Quilts Galore!

GuildA

That's Birmingham Quilters Guild Co-presidents, Glenda and Helen, calling our March meeting to order yesterday. They're wearing tiaras with green blinking lights in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

What a great meeting it was. It's always good to get together with quilting buddies to laugh and talk, but we also had a good speaker, Paula Munkachy from Kudzu Blossom Quilt Shop in Montgomery, Alabama. Paula gave us some great quilting tips and showed us some beautiful quilts she had made. She also brought along some fabric and quilting do-dads from the shop. After seeing her grandmother's flower garden quilt, I broke my pledge to not start another project until all my UFOs are busted. I purchased a packet of English paper piecing hexagons templates (which Paula called pitty pats), came home, and made four flowers with them. I plan to make a table topper for my dining table with them. (See photo below for my inspiration.)

This is Paula's quilt that inspired me to start the table topper.

Below are some more quilts that Paul showed us. You know how some people always seem to close their eyes or have a goofy look on their faces everytime their picture is taken? (My Andy has that problem.) Paul seems to be one of those people. I couldn't get one shot of her where she didn't look like she'd just bitten into a lemon or was about to go into a swoon or something. She's really a quite attractive lady.

It was a "beware" kind of day for me.

I love the tiaras - so cute. And, of course I love all of the quilts. Susan, you are just so talented!!! I can see why you couldn't resist the temptation and inspiration.

I also love the jungle quilt and the fan quilt.
