Bee Day (Not Bidet)

Bag1

I'm posting late today. I wanted to wait till after my quilters bee meeting to see if I got any show-and-tell to pass on. I did.

As a service project, bee members decided to make tote bags and fill them with toiletries and personal items for ladies at a local women-and-children shelter, The Lovelady Center. Above is one of the bags. Below are a few more. (We've decided to make more of these.)

Cyndi W.'s Zipper Pins (We're going to make these at next month's bee meeting.)

The weather for our quilting retreat that starts Thursday was looking iffy. Snow was predicted and then it wasn't and then it was again and now it isn't again. So who knows?!? I was thinking of driving up on Wednesday evening (northwestern part of Alabama) and spending the night at the Holiday Inn. That way I'd be only about 14 miles from Camp McDowell. But if the no-snow forecast holds, I'll probably just leave Thursday morning. Although it would be nice to have the major part of the drive behind me on Thursday morning, so I could get a good rested start. The retreat starts at 8:30 a.m., and I'm about an hour and a half from the camp.

I haven't decided what I'm going to take and I haven't packed anything. So the rest of the week is going to be devoted to that--after today. The mother of two of my good friends from high school passed away over the weekend and her visitation is tonight. I'm planning to be there. I first was going to stay home tonight and go to her memorial service tomorrow. But since I already have my hair fixed and my face made up (two chores I hate to do), I think I'll go ahead tonight, then stay home tomorrow and prepare for retreat.

But now, I think I'll go play with two doggies that think I've been ignoring them all day.

Boy, that Mary U. has been on the ball, hasn't she? Loved those tote bags and what a nice gift to someone who really needs it. Hope you have a great time at your retreat and come back with lots of pics!!

Love the cute tote bags, the mini quilts, the purse, and the zipper pins - too cute one and all! Great fabric choices, too, and those filled tote bags will be so appreciated. Will you please do a tutorial on the zipper pins after you learn how to make them?

Sympathy to your friends. They were blessed to have their mother with them for so long.

Enjoy preparing for the quilting retreat. It will be so much fun and that's just what you need. Hope the weather plays nice. Yes, pictures, please!

Hugs!

I like your idea of going the day before so you can get a good night's rest.

Mary's Merry Christmas quilt is wonderful. And, the bags are so thoughtful and will be so welcome.

Your post title made me smile.

Those bags are so pretty! What a good idea for the shelter. It will help them feel good and that someone cares. Be careful at your retreat. Hope the weather stays good. This winter needs to end. I may be a little slow with my UFO's; I broke my wrist yesterday shoveling snow! What an adventure the next 6 weeks will be! Stay warm!
Hugs from freezing Indiana

Love the title of your post! The bags are great, and so are the other projects. The zipper things are fun! How some people's minds work, I'll never figure!
