Why I Don't Always Respond to All the Comments

Screen My email has taken over my computer. Most days when I log onto my computer, I have between 400 and 600 emails, sometimes more. The vast majority of them are spam, of course. The others are blog comments, statements of bills that need paying, notes from friends and family, and other business that needs attention.

Most days, I delete a few hundred messages, thinking that one of these days when I have nothing else to do, I'll completely clean out my in-box. Sadly, it doesn't look as if that day will ever arrive.

So I often try to avoid my in-box. It is those times that some friend or sister will invariably call me and demand, "Do you ever check your email?"

I've thought of getting a new email address, but when I think of all the people who would have to be notified, my mind goes into shut-down and refuses to deal with the subject.

So for now, if I don't respond to your blog comments, please please please forgive me. I read them all, every one, some of them twice. I love hearing from all of you. I do. And if there's a question or some information that seems to need a response, I do try to answer those, usually in the blog-comment section (thus avoiding my stuffed in-box).

So thank you for reading my blog, and thank you for all your comments. Reading them is one of the bright spots in my day. Please don't stop.

Little Green Man Quilter Logo We have another Little Green Quilter joining us in our UFO Bust: Kris at Dandelion Quilts. Welcome aboard Kris.

Today, I'm hoping to get around to listing and photographing all my UFOs. After I'm done, I'm going to publish a blog post about them. I feel like the more visible I make my hoard of UFOs, the more likely I'll feel compelled to finish them--at least most of them--well, some of them anyway.

Sweater
Yesterday, at my monthly quilting bee meeting, I took my unfinished sweater (see above) to show to my friend Cyndi, who is a great knitter. I have come to a spot in the instructions that I just can't figure out what the instruction writer means. I knew Cyndi would know. She didn't. Her suggestion, a good one I think, is to take the project to one of the local knit shops and ask if someone there can figure it out. That's what I plan to do.

There wasn't a lot of showing and telling going on at bee yesterday, so I don't have photos. We did do a lot of talking and laughing and eating. It was a great meeting.

Afterwards I had a zillion errands to run, then I came home and took Sophie and Skipper for a long walk since they had missed two days walking. By then I was plumb tuckered out, as we say down in these parts. So I didn't do much else except read and play with a jigsaw puzzle. Jigsaw puzzles are another area that I hope to clear away this year. I love them, and I buy them (or at least I used to) but never get around to working them. I'm on my second one since starting the Christmas puzzle. I hope to put them all together, then take them apart and give them to someone else who might enjoy them.

  Puzzle1
Andy and I started this Cozy Christmas puzzle during Christmas Week.

Puzzle2
I started this one on Sunday.

That's all for now, I think. If you'd like to join our UFO Bust, you can read all about it right here. There aren't a lot of rules; just a chance to clear out all those unfinished projects that are taking up space around your house--a chance to make room for new stuff. My experience has been that I get a lot more done when I do it with a group like this. And if we run into problems (like I have with my sweater), we can seek advice from the group. Or if we start to lose our enthusiasm, we can look to the group to fire us back up. So come along and join us, why don't you?

I use to enjoy doing puzzles. Now I would have a cat that would probably take off with pieces though.

Oh girl - I totally understand about the email inbox. I have a hate/love relationship with mine. I'm sitting here now in my nightgown trying to clean it out. Problem is, tomorrow it will be full again. I dont' get much spam at all - but blog comments, facebook stuff and emails from friends. I hate that I don't have the time to sit and write heartfelt comments back. It almost stopped me from blogging all together!

Don't let that stop you, Jayme. I'd miss your great blog. I love to read about you and the chickens and stuff.

Oh! I so enjoyed reading this post!

One day when the weather is bad, can you put on some great music and click the "unsubscribe" button on the advertisement and spam emails? That should help reduce the volume of annoying emails you get. For everything I buy on-line, I take care to also un-click the box that says they'll be happy to send me emails about their sales, etc. I don't have a blog but I get very few emails/day.

Have you seen how puzzles can be glued together so they can be framed and hung on a wall? I'd certainly keep and frame the Cozy Christmas puzzle and use it as a happy decoration every Christmas to come! I have so enjoyed my framed Christmas prints, pictures, and cards. Wanna see any of them?

Hugs to you 3!

Forget Koontz and forget his book “What the Night Knows” (a ghost vengeance story, been there, done that), instead read a book that’s been BANNED like “America Deceived II” by E.A. Blayre III.

Every few years, I create a new email address for my family and friends and I just let the spam keep going to the old one. Eventually you can let that one go too or just use it to sign up for things you think will spam. Unsubcribing or Blocking spam emails helps too. Cute blog!

LOL! My housemate LOVES puzzles! Sadly, we aren't allowed any cats (or pets of ANY kind) here, but when we used to have our Tarbaby she would just WAIT for us to leave then room, the go flying on top of the puzzle table, sending pieces everywhere. We BOTH agree that a puzzle is nice but a kitty is nicer! (Naughtier, but more fun!)

Susan, you can set your computer's email to send EVERYTHING questionable directly to SPAM. I recently did that, after suddenly having a deluge of junky email, and now it heads right into the Spam box - 'bye-bye, mean old spam! I would be COMPLETELY overpowered & overwhelmed if I saw more than 12 emails in my box at any given time! EEEEKS! When I used to belong to Yahoo dollmaking groups, the email was atrocious! On a different note, that sweater is going to be BEAUTIFUL! I can barely wait to see it completed! And the Christmas puzzle? Gorgeous! I agree with Barbara - well worth gluing. At the other house I just spread a pretty good thick layer of ModPodge (I don't believe I spelled that correctly, but you know what I mean)on top of Ray's completed puzzles & they dried beautifully. Those puzzles hung all through the hallway of the house!

You see! Even my blog gets spam.

I have very little wall space left. So what would I do with the puzzles after I glue them? I guess I could frame them and hang them in the basement--or my sewing room still has some wall space.

Susan, everything is always off kilter after Christmas. It seems like all of a sudden we are "shut down" in our minds and we don't want to go forward but we must. Duties demand it. Our pets need us, our husbands need us, our children need us. EEK!! it is too much. We need!! The woman in us needs what no one, child, man, animal can give us. Only the LORD can meet the need that our hearts cry for. May our LORD Jesus Christ meet the need that is in your heart right now. Love, Debra

I worked a puzzle over New Years with my daughter, you got me in the mood with your Christmas puzzle. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed working a puzzle, it's very relaxing.
