Pinky Dinks

Pink2

It's Pink Saturday over a Beverly's How Sweet the Sound Blog. So I've been running around the house this morning trying to find something pink that I haven't already shown. I've shown these in different settings, I'm sure. But even I have only so much pink.

I love the little figurine. My sweet Aunt Edna (really my aunt by first marriage) gave it to me. The dried rosebud that the children are holding is from Andy's bouquet at her wedding many, many years ago. I'm afraid to touch it, afraid it will crumble.

The above photo shows some of my thrift store finds, every single thing in that photo, save the wall paint, came from the thrift store. Well, except for the plate and saucer, which came from a yard sale.

That's it for pink today. I want to tell you about our book club meeting yesterday--the best one in a long time. Almost everyone was there, and we had a high old time discussing True Grit--the book and both movies. It was a lively discussion with no one dominating. It seemed everyone loved the book and both movies--with some people being partial to the John Wayne version and some to the Jeff Bridges version. I think the Jeff version is my favorite. But I saw the Duke version so long ago that I don't remember much. So I checked out a video recording of it yesterday before I left the library and plan to watch it today.

One interesting difference, to me at least, that I noticed right off, is that Jeff's Rooster wears his eye patch on his right eye while John Wayne's Rooster wore his on his left. Wonder why the difference? And of course, Wayne is clean shaven while Jeff has a scruffy old beard, which makes him appear infinitely more Rooster-like to me.

If you haven't seen this new movie yet, I recommend it highly. And look for it to garner Oscar nominations and likely some wins. And if you haven't read the book by Charles Portis, do it. It's wonderful.

What charming pink treasures! How sweet is it to still have the rosebud?! Since you've had me visiting around for Pink Saturday, I've noticed more pink in this house than I thought possible and that doesn't include my pink fabrics. have we seen your pink stash?

I'm glad your book club meeting was so much fun.

Hugs!

Oh I love all of your pink goodies! I am glad to hear that you loved the movie. We are trying to find the time to go see it. There are very few movies that we both want to see so I am looking forward to going.
