Do all children have this fantasy, the monster under the bed? And what is the psychological origin of it?
When I was a kid, I was sure a wolf lived under my bed. I wasn't too much afraid of him coming out. So long as I didn't hang my arm or leg over the side of the bed, I would be safe, I thought. To this day, I still don't hang my limbs off the bed.
But the monster under my bed is no longer a wolf. He's the dreaded Fibromonster. And last night he came out and got me. He left my entire body in pain and me without the ability to hold onto anything. I have dropped and thrown half a dozen items already this morning, including the telephone handset--not altogether a bad thing. A previous drop had caused the handset to fly apart. I was never able to get the back all the way back on. Well, this drop fixed that. The handset is now back to normal--as long as I don't touch it again.
This is one of those days when I'd stay in sipping tea and staring at the tv if not for the fact that I must go to the store. We are all out of Iams dog food and running low on International Delight coffee creamer. Monster or no monster, we will have our necessities.
I'll take my ibuprofen and get in the jacuzzi tub first and see if I can bubble away some of the pain and stiffness. Then after a quick trip to Walmart, it's back to the couch for me.
I finished the Noah's Ark quilt top last night. I'll show you on Friday. It's ready for quilting, which I'm going to hire out to one of my long-arm quilter friends. I think I'll work on the Bunny Quilt next. I'd like to have it ready for my guild's quilt show in June. But since I really want to hand quilt it, that's probably not possible.
Look what I found on UFO Buster Lynn's blog. This looks like a fantastic way to make not only pinwheels but also half-square triangle squares for any project

Ohhhhhh! Your picture of the monster under the bed accurately shows what I imagined when I was a little child. I was also careful not to hang arm or leg over the edge of the bed as I'd certainly be gobbled up then! Sorry the FibroMonster now resides under your bed and I hope you find a way to banish him forever.
Do you need any comfort foods, prescriptions, microwave heating pads, or OTC pills while you're there getting the Iams?
How cool is that method of making 4 matching HSTs?! wonder if the bias edges would be a bother? These blocks would have to be sewed together and one binding put on or sashed before becoming a UFO!
Hugs!

I just came across this method for pinwheels and I am using it now. It works fabulously and is going very quickly. It is also very accurate. I cut 5" inch strips width of fabric and then matched the strips right sides together and then cut the strips in 5" squares. I then chain pieced the squares sewing down one side through several squares and then down the other side and so forth and then cut them apart. All I can say is WOW... you will love this.

Got all the comfort stuff, Barbara.
In the video, the lady says that to solve the bias issue, spray the pieces with spray starch or sizing.

tea. painkiller. plastic plates. I take the painkiiller and snuggle underneath the electric blanket for a bit. Then I'm ready to tackle a SMALL task. Fibro days suck. even trying to read is hard.

I had forgotten--my daughter thought there was a crocodile underneath the couch, and the cat would protect her.

Cool tutorial!
I've got a pair of fuzzy-back gloves that look like that crawling monster. Think I'll donate the gloves.

Yesterday I bought an electric stapler (because some young man standing there told me it would work great for those with arthritis; he'd gotten his mom one) while at Lowes. I tried that thing, something wasn't working right. But the pain that caused in a previous thumb surgery is about to do me in. Yet here I sit, typing... I took the darned thing back this morning and note to self: never purchase another. That project is done for.

Not to worry, that beautiful Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt in the "monster" photo will make that old monster feel calmer. Quilts have a way of comforting all of us. May your fibro feel a little less monster-like just by your body being surrounded by all your beautiful quilts. Thanks for wonderful blog posts, even when you are in pain. Love ya! Sandy Gail

I used to be afraid of sharks under my bed. I was forced to watch jaws when I was little and it took me years to get over it!!
That video is Jenny. I live near her and she is super sweet! She has lots of great ideas..check out her other you tube videos.
P.S. To make a four patches put two squares right sides together, sew up two opposite sides, cut from top to bottom right down the middle and then again side to side. There you have it!

Regret your "fibro" pain Susan...hope the Ibuprofen and jacuzzi tub helped ease your "wolf." I still don't like hanging my hands or feet over the side of the bed...waiting for the cold grasping hand of the "monster of the dark" to grab me LOL The pinwheel tutorial was excellent, I don't quilt (have wanted to in the past) and with this quick and easy method of sewing the pinwheels...PERHAPS a small quilt for my granddaughter!

This is perfect, I have 600 HST's to make for a mystery quilt I am making, Thanks for sharing, and I hope your fibro mellows out and hides back under the bed for good.

The monster picture is what a imagined "my" monster would look like --- even now I don't hang my arms and legs off the edge of the bed...
Do you think fibro is affected by the barometric pressure? I know mine is affected by the weather and me trying to do WAY to much during the day..my DH keeps reminding me "you're 60 years old, you can take a nap when you feel like it" but that's never been me, I always have so many other things I wish to accomplish. Hope you have a great day.

That Fibro Monster is nasty! He lurks under my bed and attacks me too when I least expect it. I wish you a wonderful monster free day!

I know just what you mean, Sandy. And yes, weather does affect it.
Wishing all of you a pain-free day today.
