Today's Treasures

Thurs1

This still amazes me. Sophie is eight years old, going on nine, and she has never cuddled with another dog or even allowed one to share her nest. My doggies are amazing, and I love them both--even Skipper who yesterday came into my just cleaned kitchen floor with mud up to his knees. He had been working on one of his holes to China. I grabbed him up and to the bathtub we went. Now Soph needs a bath.

I thought I would show you the rest of the things I got in my wonderful Christmas swap box from Cheryl (the one that the tin can Santa was in). So here they are.

Turs2

Above is the box that the goodies arrived in. Don't you just love it? I'm going to use it in my Christmas decorations. Speaking of Christmas decorations, Andy and Jesse are coming over this weekend to help me put up my tree. I'm going to make a pot of chili.

Andy came by last night and brought me this beautiful bouquet of sunflowers and good smelling greenery. I know what you call that green stuff, but I can't remember. Anybody got a clue? It's a belated anniversary bouquet. My and Vann's 16th anniversary was Nov. 26. He always gave me flowers, and Andy has continued the tradition.

Thurs5

My friend John picked up the teddy bear quilt yesterday. He was very pleased with it. We had a nice long visit. I grew up with John; he was in my sister's high school graduating class. Vann became good buddies with him after we got married.

Now that the Teddy quilt is finally finished, the Noah's Ark quilt for the church nursery is, I think, my next most pressing project. I know my pastor thinks I have forgot about it. I think I'll send him a copy of the photo below of the first finished block. All the animals are embroidered and the other pieces cut. Now all I have to do is sew it all together.

Thurs7

But first I have to go buy dog food. I have let me buddies run completely out of Iams. Have a great Thursday, everyone.

Awwww! Sophis loves her little brother after getting used to him. Sweet!

The flowers are lovely and Andy is so wonderful for continuing this dear tradition. Are the smelly green things eucalyptus? My boys call eucalyptus "yuckylyptus"!! I love it!

Oh, what fun treasures your Santa held for you!! The box is so charming, too. Well chosen, Cheryl!

I look forward to seeing Noah all put together and I can just imagine your pastor's delight at seeing the picture.

Today I'm playing catch-up on the many things I let slide while finished DS1's quilt top.

Hugs!

Your puppies look like they have found a great place to rest and see the world - down behind the coushin of your newly covered chair. It is amazing where dogs like to sit. And, it is amazing which "other" dog they decide to let join in on the great resting place. I have two of my own and they are something else. One Chihuahua(female) and one Dachshund (minature male). I love 'em to death. They sure can be a lot of company and a lot of amuzement with their playing and resting together. I had a Chihuahua for 8 years before I got the one I have now and I got the Dachshund when she was 6. She never liked him. He loved her to pieces but she couldn't stand him. She got bone cancer and we had to have her put to sleep in 2008. We got our current Chihuahua in 2009. She fit right in to the family; like she had always been with us and she and my Dachshund get along great.

Your Bear quilt is beautiful as is your Noah's Ark. I wish I could quilt like you do. Everything you have shared on your post has been so pretty. You do fast work too. I don't see how you can do so much and it still be so pretty. If I were to try to move that quickly I would mess everything up. I know that sometimes you don't feel well but you make the most of the time that you have and even with that limitation sometimes you still move quickly. God will bless you for your wonderful attitude and hard work. He always has His ey on us and knows just how to bless us in ways we can never even dream of.

Your blog is worth reading for the book reviews alone, never mind the quilts! I stumble onto it now and again, but now I've bookmarked it so I can check it out all the time. Nice to find someone else who's read "The Dead Path", which I recently finished. Ditto on everything you said - also one of the scariest books I've ever read - the spider scenes were soooo creepy. I'll keep reading your reviews!

Love your doggies. Like two little kids. Skiper reminds my of our Piper. So sweet but always into something.
Love that box. The goodies inside are great as well. Glad you had fun with the swap.
Hope that you are feeling better.

Sweet lil' Sophie has found herself a brother! They look adorable sharing their space! Speaking of adorable, I say that's what your QUILTS are! And big hugs to Andy for carrying on Vann's tradition! What a sweetheart she is! I hope you'll let us see your house once you all get it Christmasfied! Also hope you'll eat a bite (a BIG one) of chili for ME! Finally, your swap box from Cheryl: in a word - WOW!

Silver dollar eucalyptus.
Your dogs are so darn cute. Everytime I see pictures of them together I wish mine got along that well. Or at all.
Sounds like you are feeling better! Have a great weekend.
