Look What All I Did!

Bee1

I missed the last couple of days blogging because, well, I've been BUSY!!! You won't believe what all I've been doing. I've been enjoying an unprecedented burst of stamina, and boy! have I been making hay!

Here's what all I've done since I last blogged:

SATURDAY:
Cooked all day for upcoming events

SUNDAY:
11:00 a.m - Church
12:00 noon - Chili luncheon at church
2:00 p.m. - Memorial service of a friend
6:00 p.m. - Emmaus Reunion Group meeting/soup supper

MONDAY:
Morning: Quilting Bee Christmas Party
1:30 p.m.: Doctor appointment

Now I know that schedule will just look like everyday life to some of you. But to me? Well, I'm sitting here still wondering how I pulled it all off. And I still feel pretty good today. Planning to finally put my tree up and hang my wreath on the front door. That isn't my tree in the photo above (more's the pity). It's ONE of Cindy's trees, my quilting bee buddy who hosted our bee Christmas party yesterday.

I did let one thing slip through the cracks. My nephew Reed's 5th birthday party was held Saturday without me. I didn't even remember it until Ramey asked me Sunday why I wasn't there. I felt so bad, but I'm going to make it up to him--somehow.

Bee2

Traditionally, we always have a Dirty Santa game at our annual Bee Christmas Party. For the past couple of years, our gifts have been fabric, instead of Christmas do-dads and knick-knacks. Above are the beautiful fat quarters I came away with. I love the soft greens. We're supposed to use our new fabrics to make a cosmetic bag and fill it with goodies and bring it to bee meeting in February. We're going to donate all the filled bags to The Lovelady Center, a wonderful faith-based residential and rehab facility for women in Birmingham. We also talked about redecorating a room at the center. Cindy is going to check on that for us.

So far I have made a total of $190 (Hummingbird Cake project) for our local Leeds/Moody charities. I have two more cakes to go, which will mean a grand total of $250. Thanks to all of you who have donated or ordered cakes. I think I'll probably do this again next year.

OK, gotta go now if I'm going to get that tree up. Also I hear Skipper barking out in the backyard. Better go shut him up before my high-strung neighbor next door has one of his signature hissy fits.

But before I go, I want to wish a very special birthday to my sweet husband. I have no idea how or if they count birthdays in Heaven, but if Vann were still on Earth, he'd be 65 today. Below is a photo of Reed (birthday, December 6) and Vann (birthday, December 7) a few years ago at Christmastime.

Vann & Reed

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOYS!

I am so happy that you are feeling better and able to do some of the holiday activities that you love so much. I am still hoping to get my tree up and decorated in my home. My Special friend and I have put a tree up at his home which is great. "But, I still hope to put my tree up. I love the part of putting all the ornaments on. Looking forward to seeing a photoe of your tree. Blessings.

Wow, you have been busy! That's a lot for anyone's plate! Great job on raising that money! I wish that was my tree too! Sure would make my life easier. Have a good day today. Good luck putting up your tree.

Cheers for all you were able to accomplish and to attend. Hope you had a good time at each event and still have lots of spoons left over!

When I saw the lovely Christmas tree, I wondered how I'd never seen a stone fireplace in your home in other pictures. I was glad to read the tree and the stone fireplace are at Cindy's house!

Love the fabrics you won and such a worthy cause will benefit. Is it okay to substitute fabrics from your stash to make the cosmetic bags from and to then keep the soft green fabrics?

Good luck getting your tree up. I seem to have lost interest in our old, raggedy tree since a branch suffered metal fatigue last year and just fell off!

Reed will surely forgive you if his mama will let you take him to McDonald's for a belated birthday lunch or to a fun movie.

Happy birthday to the boys!!

Hugs!

You surely have been busy! That would be a full schedule for many of us. It's wonderful to hear that you are feeling stronger and able to get so much accomplished. Have fun with the decorating. What a special photo of 2 special "boys." Sweet memories.

I DO 'get' how very much you've accomplished! Wow! I'm impressed! As for the tree, yours will be every bit as lovely as Cindy's! Hope we get to see it! And Reed will be just as pleased to be celebrated by his Aunty Susan whenever you see him! Happy Birthday to Reed. And Happy Birthday to Vann, a sweetheart in Heaven as he was on Earth!

Oh goodness, I didn't realize Vann died so young! I know you must miss him terribly, especially around the holidays. I'm sending you a Texas-sized hug. You did have a burst of energy. Gotta make hay while the sun shines. That list of yours looked OVERWHELMING to me, actually. I seldom plan more than one activity a day or I'm in a fizz. I wonder if we'll see any more new CMs or if it will all be Jingle this and that until after Christmas and the new year?

You did do quite a lot! I haven't put up my tree either. Although we did go and buy it but it's still sitting outside in bucket of water (frozen) :)

Have a wonderful Christmas!

For an easy and adorable cosmetic bag and super zipper tutorial go to Nicole's Sister's Choice blog 11/19, 22 & 23!! I ordered the pattern from The Fat Quarter Shop and made 4 of them (medium size) so far!! As Nicole says, 'easy, peasy Bob's your uncle' and they're done!!!

You have been a very busy lady, and I am so glad you've been feeling good.

I do think birthdays count in Heaven - so Happy Birthday to your sweet Vann. Just think about all of the celebrations they are having every single day.
