Retreat Updates

Thurs Brita's Blocks
Here are Brita's pretty pastel blocks. I think the colors in the blocks blend beautifully, and the border fabric pulls it all together. I might add a narrow spacer border between the top and the print outside border for definition, but otherwise, I love it. I love her kitty cat too.

Below is what Brita says about her work this week. Do you have any comments for her about her blocks?

"I bought this pastel fabric bundle at a quilt show last year, but never got further than deciding on the patterns.  I got only two blocks made on Day One (top two).  On the second day, I made the second two.  Not making much progress, and I'm already not liking the colors.  The fabric along the side will be the borders.  Maybe if I make more, they will blend more -- right now they look too different.  I plan to set them on point with sashing, and that may pull them all together.  The third picture is of my resident Quilt Inspector, Annabella, checking it out."

Thurs Barb
Barbara sent me this photo last night of her progress. She says there's not much to say about it but that she completed three more blocks. I might add: This is going to be one awesome quilt. I can't wait to see the finished product.

I have some more photos of Sandy Gail's Sunbonnet Sue quilt, but I'm having technical difficulties downloading them. I hope to be able to show them to you later in the day.

Also later in the day, I'll be show and drawing for prizes, so stay tuned.

Brita's pretty soft pastel blocks really appeal to me. I love quilts from the 1930's and for some reason, those blocks remind me of that era. Her kitty is soooo sweet, sitting there in the window.

Barbara's blocks are really going together well. Way to go, Barbara! What a nice design.

And, of course, I absolutely love your diamond quilt, Susan, I really want to make one of those!

I vote more pastel blocks, Brita, and love the blocks you've made! The border fabric is just delicious, too. Well done! Miss Annabella is a beauty!

Thanks for you sweet comments about the blocks for my son's quilt. These are so not my favorite colors to work with and I prefer prints or tone-on-tones to these solids. Still, this quilt is all about his choices!

I hope to get one or two blocks competed before time to leave for the medical appt. Torrential rain here, so hope it slacks up, too.

Hugs to all!

Hi Brita! Don't worry about not liking the quilt, just keep going. There have been plenty of quilts i've made that i thought "what am i doing?". Sometimes I have to get almost finished before I like it...Its pretty, U R doing good, and the border will be perfect!
