Time to Buck Up

Thrift3Whenever the stress gets bad, I can tell it first in the fibro symptoms. And if the stress continues, the next thing to feel it is my digestive system. I've been awake most of the night with a gnawing stomachache. And today, the nausea and other gastrointestinal symptoms are here. I feel like warmed-over worm pie. YUK!

While I wait for the Pepto Bismol to take effect (and pray that it does), I'll try to get a blog post in between interruptions.

I haven't blogged about my family Labor Day gathering. At the somewhat last minute, my sister Joanne invited us all to her house for hot dogs and the best homemade potato salad I've ever tasted. My nephew Jed was there from Atlanta. Also in attendance were my sister Ramey, niece Buffy and her boyfriend Phillip and her son Reed, and my niece India.

After we chowed down, Ramey and I decided to go thrifting to finish off the day. The clock in the photo above is one of my finds from the trip. Well actually, Ramey found it and then decided it didn't go with her decor, so I grabbed it.

I got a couple of other things too, but that's all I have photographed.

Red_mailbox My 15-year-old mailbox has finally decided to disintergrate. There's hardly enough left for the mailman to put mail in. The flag was the most recent thing to go. It fell off Monday when I tried to raise it to alert the mailman to pick up my mail. I went to Lowe's and then to Wal-Mart to get a new one, but didn't find what I wanted. I want a red mailbox, but I don't want to have to mortgage the house to get it. The ones I've found online are right pricey. Anybody know where I can get a plain red mailbox?

I could buy a white mailbox (both Lowe's and Wal-Mart have cheap white ones) and paint it red, but I'd rather buy one that's already red if possible. I still haven't painted my corner cabinet that I got a while back. And the front door is waiting to be painted too--as well as my front porch railings, which are rusted. And my back porch has to be sprayed with water sealer before winter. So no more projects for now.

But today, if I can get my stomach to calm down, I think I'll spend some time in the sewing room. Although I'm not finished with the decorating, it is organized enough for sewing now. I'm way, WAY behind on baby quilts. And sewing usually helps me to relieve stress--and I do need me some stress relief.

And Sophie needs a bath. But don't tell her.

Eewwwwwwwwww! "Warmed over worm pie" is a far too descriptive phrase I've never heard before. ICK! I hope you have Pepto Bismol caplets. IMHO, they're God's gift to GI miseries as you don't taste that pink liquid awfulness that is Pepto Bismol liquid. When I was about 3 years old and before I could read, I put Pepto Bismol on my itchy foot thinking it was Calamine lotion. My mother found me doing this and you can just imagine my horror when I found out I'd put the most foul pink Pepto Bismol on my unsuspecting foot!!

I hope you feel lots better soon, soon, soon!

Have you looked on ETSY or eBay or Overstock.com for a red mailbox? Is the farm store "Southern States" in your area? They might have red mailboxes. I suppose you could google the term, too.

Happy sewing! Baby fabrics and your favorite music playing should help the med. restore your serenity.

Be good to you and be well!

Love nad hugs!

Hope you're soon feeling better. I find that sewing helps to reduce stress. I wonder if giving Sophie a bath reduces or increases stress.
Hope you have a productive stress free day.

Oh, I feel for you. I've had a UTI for two weeks. Resistant to antibiotics.

Hey, Susan! Just an idea...have you thought about a magnetic mailbox cover? You could buy a new mailbox (for less than $10) and then buy a cover or two or...? (I saw some cute ones at the Blue Bumblebee in McCalla.) That way you could change out for different seasons, favorite football team (Roll Tide!) or whatever!

I hope the Pepto and sewing worked, and that you are feeling much better today.

A red mailbox would be fantastic. We have neighborhood mailboxes located in several locations. They are convenient, and they do alleviate the problem of everyone having to keep one of their own, but they are not pretty.

Ooooooooh! I WANT that red mailbox! When we moved here in April of 2009, I looked & looked for a red mailbox. NOTHING. I can't stand the box we have now - plain & WAY too small - so I'm still looking! But I can't find anything LIKE that one! I'd be perfectly happy to paint one - but the ones I find are either extremely expensive or UGLY! LOL! Hope you get YOUR box! LOVE YOU!

You can order a red mail box (nice large rural size) from Home Depot. Don't know if they have them in stock at the store.

Hope you feel better soon.
