Rarely have I ever got so involved in a tv show that I cry when a character leaves. The last time I remember this happening was about 1968 when my favorite character in the soap "Edge of Night" was killed in a plane crash. I cried for three days.
Well, it happened again last night--on "Criminal Minds." This to me is a high quality production among all the trash and stupidity on television. The acting, writing, sets, lighting--it's all super.
One character, Jennifer Jareau (J.J.) played by A.J. Cook is the heart and soul of the BAU team on the show. She's the go-to gal for comfort and sympathy for victims and victims' families. Her greatest quality is empathy. Plus A.J. Cook is a great little actress. (Last week's episode in which she talked with serial killed Billy Fynn regarding fear of monsters proved that beyond a doubt). Plus, the BAU team members love her as a sister.
So last night, BAU Director Strauss informed J.J. that she must take a promotion and leave the BAU team. J.J. can't refuse to take the promotion and Hotch (J.J.'s boss) can't refuse to let her go. BUMMER! Viewers were led to believe that last night's episode would be her last. We were given a glimmer of hope, however, when Hotch told J.J. that he wasn't going to replace her, that he hoped he could get her back. I know thousands of CM fans hope the same.
If you're a "Criminal Minds" fan and you agree that letting J.J. go hurts the show (and, fictionally speaking, breaks the hearts of all her team members), please let CBS know. I already have.
And if you have never watched this show and don't know what I'm talking about, I'm sorry to go on about this. But sometimes we just have to speak up when we see wrongs being committed. And this is wrong.

Hey Susan! I watched the show last night and actually thought "I bet Susan is crying". I like the show also but don't catch it every week. Probably watch more of the old ones...I cried when Hill Street Blues ended!

Bring Back JJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still in mourning for all of the NUMB3RS cast and the lovely Craftsman house Jud Hirsh got to live in. We didn't even get to say good-bye. Sigh!
Hugs!

Amen, amen and amen! I'm headed over to CBS. I thought of you so many times while watching this phenomenal show. It is the only fall show I have ANY interest in. And it is quality TV. Without JJ, who will bring on the empathy?
