Beachy Boys

Heath and Jesse

OK, no more guesses. The above photo ought to give you the answer. Sandy was on my trail when she guessed that I was going to Cracker Barrel for chicken and dumplings, turnip greens, and corn bread. That's how this adventure started exactly--lunch at Cracker Barrel on Thursday. And that's exactly what I had, along with some pinto beans and iced tea.

Then it was on to Panama City Beach, where I've been chilling ever since with my daughter Andy, grandson Jesse, and Jesse's friend Heath. The photo above shows Heath on the left and Jesse on the right after a dip in the warm Gulf waters. No oil, no tar balls, just miles of white sandy beach, blue water, and golden sunshine. This morning, Andy and I had our coffee on the balcony of the condo. We watched pelicans diving for their breakfast, a pod of dolphin gliding by, and a beach cat down in the sea oats and grasses leaping for dragon flies. God is good.

Skipper Update

Skip 3 I delivered the Skipster to the vet's office Thursday morning before we left for the beach. He was a little nervous, but for the most part, he was a brave little boy. I telephoned to check on him at about 3:00 that afternoon. Dr. Rachel's assistant told me that he came through his surgery beautifully and that he was up "prancing around his cage." You see? No harm, no foul.

Sophie and I miss him and can't wait to see him. We'll pick him up on Monday morning.

Heath drew a number for me from among all your comments on Thursday's post. And the winner is WENDY! The prize will a surprise prize because I didn't get around to deciding what the prize will be before I left home. But it will be a good one. Wendy please e-mail me your full name and mailing address to suscleve@aol.com when you can.

I have a very unreliable internet connection here, so I'm going to sign off. I already lost this post once, and don't won't to go through again what I had to go through to get it back. Happy Weekend, everyone.

What a great place to decompress - gorgeous views everywhere, not least of which are on the beach!!

So glad to hear that Skipper was up and at 'em so quickly after his surgery. I was sure that would be the case, but it's good to know it was the case.

Cheers for astute Sandy and lucky Wendy!

Enjoy your time away! Your beautiful home sweet home awaits your return.

Hugs!
