Bakeday

Thurs1

Hello, all you bloggers and nonbloggers out there in Blogland and elsewhere! How is everyone on this hot and humid summer morning? I myself have blurry eyes, stuffy nose, and scratchy throat. Some kind of allergy, I think. Also my feet and legs have decided to be wracked with pain for the last couple of days. I guess that's the fibromyalgia or the arthritis. Or who knows? I sha'nt let it keep me down, however. Today is baking day at The Yellow House. Tomorrow might be too, what with four cakes to bake.

I didn't get a lot done yesterday, grocery shopping day. Anytime I have to go for a large grocery shopping excursion (about twice a month), I know I will pay later. First of all, I just hate the task of shopping for groceries. Just don't like it. Then there's lugging all those bags upstairs from the basement garage when I get home, and putting everything away. By that time, I'm quite done in.

But I did get all my cake-baking supplies and am ready to fire Gertrude up and get some confections created.

Kitties Guess I ought to tell you about the photo at top before I close. A long time ago, maybe a hundred years ago or so, my sister Ramey and I went to the thrift store. She found this treasure right away and put it in her buggy. It's a painted iron doorstop. As we are prone to do, after we fill our buggies and are ready to go home, we first go around the store putting back everything we've decided we didn't want after all. Ramey was about to put this back and asked me if I wanted it. I did.

I'm planning to go to Springville tomorrow to have a look at this little white corner cabinet. I've been looking for one for the empty corner in my dining room, and found this one on Craig's list. The owner measured it for me, and it will fit perfectly into my spot. I'll show you a better picture if I do indeed bring it home.

Gotta go now. Gertrude awaits.

I think you've just convinced me that I need to have a baking day too. Just the thought of a nice cake makes my mouth water!

I love the hutch and have always wanted a corner cabinet but don't have a place for one or need it either. Sigh!

AMIL and I unload her groceries at the front door because it's just 2 steps up. If we go to the back door, we have 10 steps to climb repeatedly. How would using your front door help you?

Remember to toddle into the sewing room to a wee bit of a stitch, a quick fondling of fabrics, or a glance into a quilting book, pattern, or magazine. It's Fabric Friday!

Happy baking!

Hugs!

Susan, Hope you are feeling better. I sure do like the little kitty doorstop and the cabinet. Looks like a good find, hope it fits. I did my grocery shopping first thing this morning and then came home and cut the grass. I won't be going out anymore today. I almost got to hot before I finished. Was going to bake a green tomato cake today but will probably wait now until tomorrow. Us girls in Alabama need to stay in and keep cool. Have a wonderful weekend.

I've always wanted a corner cabinet. And it's so cute. I can just see it all filled up with pretties.

Don't the grocery stores in the US deliver? We can order groceries online in the UK, and pick a delivery time slot, then some poor delivery guy has to lug the bags to your front door :o).

I'm enjoying seeing your house coming together and I'm looking forward to seeing what you cook up in your sewing room. I had a baking day last weekend - lemon cupcakes and coffee and walnut sponge - yummy!!

Enjoy your baking! I think you're so brave to bake when the weather's hot! Lots of friends here are having allergy problems, too.

LOOOOOVE those kitties! AND the corner cabinet! But I hate that you are in pain! Try to stay as cool as possible during all the baking. You are definitely a braver soul than I am! The desserts around here in the summer? Jello fruit cups (pre-made & bought in a 6 pack - LOL!) or fresh fruit. LAZY KAI. The heat does me in! LOVE YOU!
