More Weapons in the Arsenal

Fri So Dr. N had a bunch of X-rays taken and asked a bunch of questions and wiggled my legs back and forth and looked at me with a grim expression. But then again, he always has a grim expression.

He says that from what he sees in the X-rays, my lower back and hip pain stems from the degenerative disk disease. If that's what it is, he believes we will be able to control the pain--but he didn't go into detail about how. First, he said, he wants and MRI to make sure nothing else is going on in there. So I'm waiting for the hospital to call to schedule the MRI.

Meanwhile, I have two more meds to join the gob (one of my mama's words, gob) I already take--a muscle relaxer and a pain pill (darvocet). I took a muscle relaxer last night and slept well. But my real problems occur when I'm standing and walking. That's when the pain is worst. So we'll see if they help today.

I appreciate all the comments from yesterday's post. I didn't expect all of you to agree with everything I wrote. I was surprised when most of you who commented did. As I told one commenter, that's why God made so many opinions, so everybody could have one.

But it does a soul good sometimes to put down in writing what you really believe. Sometimes you might even surprise yourself. I did.

I'm going to get up in a bit and shower and dress and go back out searching for the kind of lining that Daniel wants for my valance. He's scheduled to bring my chair and ottoman tomorrow, all finished. I'm excited to see it. Daniel says it's very pretty.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Susan,
well I guess it's always good to know the score - but I'm sad for you that it's only going to be a case of pain control rather than healing and getting on with your life. I guess now we all need to have a little chat with the big boss upstairs as the doctors can't do a whole lot.
Can't wait to see your new chair and ottoman! When are we going to get the full video tour of the yellow house?
Take care my dear. Lol Helen

Is that big white bottle a derivative of Metheltrexate? (Not absolutely certain of the spelling.) THAT stuff SCARES me. But I am hoping whatever you take HELPS you! I am very weary of pain, and my stubborn dispostion keeps me from taking any pain pills at all. I have to take one med for life, but it is not a pain-related med. Sometimes tho', I wonder why I feel the need to be such a - well, such a COMANCHE about meds. LOL! I'm SOOOOOO glad Daniel is bringing your chair & ottoman tomorrow! Cannot WAIT to see it! And why doesn't DANIEL go get the lining HE wants? Bad boy! Making our Susan go lining hunting. Is Sophie being a good doggy today? Even if she's not being too good, give her 'loves' from me, okay? 'Loves' to you, too, my friend!

Sorry meds are needed but thankful that you have them.

Be blessed!

My husband has the very same thing. His only relief is laying or sitting. He calls it his butt cheek! Ha! The pain is terrible though. They are doing another epidural on him. This is his 4th this year. It hasn't helped much at all. They say the next thing is a sacroiliac block which disables the nerve. It doesn't sound like fun. I hope you get some relief. I feel for you.

Yup, our backs are in the same boat. Take the meds and do as much as is comfortable. I enjoyed all your comments--especially the bits about Sophie!
