As evidence that progress is being made around here, I give you this. My bed, all made up with it's new buttercup yellow bedspread, flanked by two (although you can see only one of them) organized bookcases. (Well, there's a mystery solved. I thought I had lost the lens cover for my camera, but I see it now, lying right there on the lone star quilt on my bed. See it?)
In fact, quite a bunch got done in The Yellow House yesterday, but I didn't do most of it. The charity truck came and picked up another load of donations, the boys who helped with the painting came and carried my old sofas away to their house, a nice young couple came from Huntsville and bought the dining table and chairs and nearly killed themselves getting the table out of the house. And, best of all, Daisy, my god-dog, came to stay for a few day.
The lack of lifting and toting seems to have had good results. I feel better today. The back is still fussing, but the allover pain of the fibromyalgia has abated. So I think I will try to get my kitchen straightened up a bit. It's a total wreck. Even worse than the near-empty rooms in the photos below.
Sophie is quite put out with me for letting her sofa, the back of which was her favorite napping spot, leave the house. Even though I put down lots of cushions and her favorite quilts right in front of the window where her sofa sat, she won't even try them out. She prefers the bare carpet.******************
GYHEM GIVEAWAY #2
How would you like to own this great cookbook? Of all the cookbooks I had in my kitchen (until the charity truck hauled most of them away yesterday), this is the one I use most. (Not this very one, but one like it.) This one is brand new, never been cooked from.
Leave me a comment on this post, and you just might win it. I'll draw for the cookbook on Friday.
Since only a couple of you guessed correctly (although some of your guesses were quite good), I'll tell what GYHEM stands for: Great Yellow House Extreme Makeover. So that's what we're celebrating with these giveaways.

Glad you're feelng better today. Good progress with your makeover. Your bedroom looks really nice. Poor Sophie, she must be really wondering what will be next when she's lost her favourite seat.

Looking good. It is so funny how you can see things through the camera that you can't see with the naked eye, isn't it? Happens to me all the time!

So glad you're feeling better today. Your bedroom looks beautiful and I love the quilt hanging behind the bed. It's the one in your banner, isn't it? So pretty! I don't know what that is on the front of that cookbook, but if I'm lucky enough to win it, that's the first thing I'm making!! Looks good whatever it is.

Now you post this giveaway :-)....My middle sister and I gave our older sister a 70th b-day party last Sunday for our large family..a lovely day in all respects. For our gift to her we filled a large bag with books (she is an unrecovering bookaholic:-) that reflected who she is (bird watching, travel, Irish trivia etc) and we looked and looked for a Southern Living Cookbook (not so available in CA bookstores near us)since she had lived in the south for a number of years and proclaims her style of decor and cooking to be "Southern Living"....
So much fun to "see" your home taking shape with its new look....your decorating sense is really blossoming...

Hi Susan, Wow - things are definitely progressing at the Yellow House. How great that you were able to dispose of the furniture and now you're all set for the replacements without having to worry about the old. Those walls look great and I am really looking forward to seeing that valance - I am sure that it will pull the room together (once the new furniture arrives, of course). Sophie must be one very confused dog with all the changes going on around her.

Poor Sophie...laying in the middle of the floor....I hope she finds a new favorite spot soon.
My Mother used to get Southern Living magazine (she still may, I don't really know!) but I do remember it having wonderful recipes. Count me in for the giveaway, thanks!
LOL over your lens cap...showing up in your picture.

Oh!!!!!!!!! Your bedroom is lovely!! The Basket quilt on the wall and the Lone Star add such happy and perfectly colored touches. So glad your lens cover is found, too.
Cheers that your DR table and chairs sold and the give-away furniture and other items are gone, too. The nearly empty rooms won't be so empty for very long because soon your new furniture will arrive! Won't that be a joy-joy time?!
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Sophie will be out of her doldrums with Daisy to play with and to cheer her up.
You're hard work, wonderful choices, and beautiful results are inspiring. Well done!
Big hugs!

Hi Susan ~ I recognize that quilt on the wall behind your bed! And the GYHEM explanation is clever! I know you'll be glad when it's all over!

What a beautiful bedroom! So soft and pretty, it will be a lovely room to spend time in. I've been following along for the GYHEM and congratulate you on your progress. I don't need another cookbook, so no need to put me in your drawing, I just wanted to compliment you on your color choices.

Hi Susan,
well I have to say, it's looking sooo good! Yes there are a few things to be tidied away, but those rooms look so fresh and pretty! I'm sure you are nearly there. Once your new furniture arrives it will look lovely!
I'd love to win the cookbook - cookbooks are my third weakness - after fabric and sock yarn! My husband has banned me from buying any more (don't know why - I mean he benefits from my use of them!). I hardly know anything about Southern food - and I'd love to learn - so please put me into the draw!!
Hope you are feeling a bit more like yourself again,
best wishes,
Helen

Seeeeeee????? REALLY GREAT PROGRESS! Even tho' you have more to do, you are getting into the rhythm of the makeover & pacing your sweet self better now, I think! THAT'S GOOD! I'm loving the wall colors. And Miss Sophie makes me laugh because I relate to wanting 'my' plopping-down spots to remain where they always were. (She's so adorable!)
