Those Smiles Are for Real

Me & Vann

Look what just arrived by e-mail. A friend of ours, Dave, took this shortly before Vann became ill. We were at Dave's MIL's 80th birthday party. He sent this picture and another to me this morning. Thanks, Dave. This means so much to me.

Looks like I was in bad need of a haircut (as I am now), and we both were in need of shucking of few pounds, but don't we look happy? We were. There was a time in my life when I could never have imagined being as happy as I was with Vann. Neither one of us was perfect, but we gladly accepted each other's imperfections in order to share our lives with the loves of our lives. We always knew we were meant to be together.

Enough of that before I start blubbering all over the laptop.

I got my dining room furniture posted on Craig's  this morning. I'm hoping it goes fast so I won't have to worry about getting it moved into the basement when the new furniture arrives. Anybody have any other ways of advertising this furniture for sale? Do newspaper ads work?

My goal this week is to get my sewing room packed up in an organized way so that the room can be painted. If I organize as I pack, unpacking and arranging the room after it's painted should be a breeze--or at least easier than unpacking randomly packed boxes. Wish me luck.

What a wonderful photo of you and Vann - and how kind of Dave to think to send the photos to you. Sweet!

Fingers crossed that your dining set goes quickly. Have you thought of putting the word of it's availability out to neighbors, your WOW group, your quilting group, and any other group you belong to? Ask Andy to put it up on the bulletin board at work. Someone may be in need of just that dining set or want to purchase it for an adult child. You can always send it to a consignment shop, though they usually take a huge % of the profit when it sells.

Lots of good wishes for organizing your sewing room items so unpacking is a breeze.

Hugs!

What a lovely photo :o). Good luck with the furniture sale, on the rare occasions I've sold bits of furniture I've gone with a local ads magazine, not sure if you have an equivalent in the US, but I'm sure the local newspaper would have a smalls section.

Hi Susan, yes that is a lovely picture and I am so glad for you that it brings back happy memories. I too am going through the packing clearing up and preparing to paint stage. Just had living and hallway carpets removed and replaced with wooden flooring. Since all the furniture had to be moved for that we figures we might as well have the place painted so now we have it partly done, the next rooms to be done are the kitchen, dining room, the guest room (aka my studio) and the master bathroom. After that comes the bedroom and powder room - my husband's office is not being touched too many bookshelves and huge filing cabinets. Things would be so much easier if we did not have thousands of books.
Good luck with selling the furniture - can I interest you in a gate legged rosewood dining room table - just kidding - but I am trying to get rid of one - I'll probably end up donating it to the next church rummage sale.
Take care and don't overdo.

It's SUCH a good picture of you & Vann! I know it gives you mixed feelings, but I hope those feelings lean mostly toward joy! What a beautiful couple! As for the furniture, three BIG cheers for getting the white dining room set! That's going to brighten EVERYTHING and also give you endless possibilities where other color is concerned! LOVE YOU TODAY (and EVERYDAY!)

What a wonderful photo and remembrance of good times past.
I thing Craig's List will work perfectly for you.

Not meaning to be negative, just concerned, but be careful with Craig's list. You never know who is going to answer your ad and I've heard some bad stories on the news. Just make sure someone else is with you if someone is coming to look at the furniture. It's so sad that this beautiful world God created has so many evil people in it and that we must always be on guard but that's the simple truth. Predators are everywhere and always dreaming up ways to take advantage of us honest people and it seems like their ideas are limitless as to the extremes they will go to. Just be careful! On a more positive note, the picture of you and Vann is quite a treasure. Remember the good times.

Oh, Susan, the picture is adorable!! You two are as happy as can be .... but, you know what? We either need to lose a few, or gain a few, or cut our hair, or curl our hair ... but, Dear One ... all those "imperfections" is what made Van perfect to you! Cherish the memories!!! It is a beautiful picture!!
