I'm so jealous of my neighbor and friend Karen. She gardens every day this time of year, and her gardens and lawns are beautiful. Of course, she has her husband Paul to help her. But I think most of the inspiration belongs to Karen.
Even when I still had strength and stamina, and Vann to help, I was a horrible gardener. Growing things don't thrive for me. And I hate dirt. So you see, those are two things right there that make me unfit for gardening.
If I were wealthy, I'd hire a gardener and he/she would create wonderlands of blooming things all around The Yellow House, like the "flower bed" in the photo above. Isn't that wonderful? I found it at Houzz.com. But I'm not wealthy, and I'm a lousy gardener, so I'll stick mostly with the indoors for now.
I did find a Radio Flyer wagon (like the one above) in a relocating neighbor's trash pile and adopted it for my own. The bottom is rusted out, but I think I can make a frame of chicken wire and cover the bottom with moss and have the little red wagon planter I've always wanted. I plan to fill it with red and yellow petunias.
My mind has been working in blues and whites since I decided on my guest room color scheme. No more greens and pinks for now. All yesterday afternoon, while I organized my records to take to the tax lady, visions of blue--and-white bedrooms with touches of reds or raspberry danced through my head. (It's the only way I could make it through the obnoxious and boring task.) But I think I got all the math right (I've checked it numerous times) and all the records in order. I'm waiting for one more bit of info by e-mail and I'll be ready to visit Ms. Doris this afternoon. Another first: my first trip to our tax accountant since Vann died.
Isn't this a pretty bedroom (above)? My furniture is cherry, much the same hue as the furniture above, but in French Provencial, circa 1962. Now just imagine a darker quilt, a red-and-white gingham throw pillow, a touch of red in the lampshade maybe--and whatever is going on behind the bed NOT going on in my room.
Another pretty one, but still with no red. Don't you love the framed fabrics above the bed? What if those fabrics had a little red or raspberry in them, and a throw pillow on the bed to match and a darker blue quilt? (Note: Both bedrooms came from Houzz.com.)
Toodles for now. Going to shower and get ready for the tax lady.

Pretty inspiration photos! If I had that bed of flowers in my front yard, our cranky homeowners assocation would SO be on my case. It would be so fun to do it, just to get a reaction from them. It doesn't take much to rankle those sad sacks, and that would be a great way to poke at them.

The flower bed is a hoot! I really like your idea for the little red wagon. Have you seen the very small red wagons like yours that they sell in hardware stores? Too cute!
Perhaps Karen would plan and start an autopilot garden for you if you make her a quilt?? Sounds like a great barter of services to me!
No homeowner's association for me! That was the #1 thing we told our real estate agent to avoid like the plague.
Love the top bedroom photo!! It's delicious as is but I think seasonal changes of accent color would make it sing and even sweeter song.
Happy imagining! Hugs!!

DELICIOUSLY inviting roomscapes! I vote for raspberry touches! (I know! LOL! Nobody gave ME a vote, huh? But I thought I'd throw in my unasked-for opinion anyway!) You HAVE to be careful when decorating, tho'. If that guest room turns out as gorgeous as I strongly suspect it will, your guests will NEVER want to leave!

I can just see the muddy paws of a dog walking all over that white. . . Oh, wait, that ruins the fantasy. Sorry, my bad!

Our spare bedroom is blue and white. The walls are not white-white, but white. Mostly ocean/seaside theme. Love blue and white - very restful. Hope you did okay with the tax business and your ortho appointment went well.

I really like the second room, but I would darken the bedspread and add either a red or yellow accent. I love the way the fabric looks above the bed. I have also seen this done with scrapbooking paper for super cheap and stunning results.

Home office into an inviting and conducive working space, and you need to start with the right foundation pieces from an office furniture outlet.
