Bee-ing There

Today was my quilting bee's April meeting. I met Sally and Cindy M. at Hancock's and rode to Rita's house with them. I knitted on my blue sweater and took photos while several others treated us to some show-and-tell beauties. Below are a few of them.

Bee Dream

Gerry was working on her Susan Garman "Mama Said" blocks. That's Gerry above, holding her "Dream" block. And below are some of the other blocks she has finished.

Doris, along with a group of women in her church, makes comfort quilts for church members who have lost family members or are otherwise going through difficult times. Below are three that she has made recently.

And finally, Martha showed us a wonderful memory quilt (below) that she made for a friend who's son recently died in an accident.

After bee, I came home and picked up Sophie and we went to Dr. Rachel's clinic to get Sophie's Interceptor (heart work prevention meds), then to the grocery story for more salad (I accidently put the bag I bought Saturday in the freezer with my frozen veggies, rendering it inedible), and finally to CVS to pick up a prescription for me. We came home, ate lunch, and now we're both chilling out on the sofas.

It's a very warm day here at the Yellow House. Temps must be in the mid 80s out there. The leaves are peaking out on the trees, and the air is full of pollen giving everything a bit of a golden glow. And giving me a headache.

It's going to be a busy week for me. Tomorrow I have to get all my tax records in order to take to the accountant on Wednesday. On Thursday I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon about my back, and Thursday evening is Bible study. Friday is book club. We'll be discussing The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. So far, I've read only 35 pages of this 325-page book. So now, I'm going to sign off and get my book and start reading. Hope everyone is having a great Monday.

Hi Susan, your week sounds a lot like mine. Do persevere with The Elegance of the Hedgehog, I really enjoyed it. Your quilt group is certainly talented and generous - but then most quilters are.

Love the quilts!!

How does Sophie like travelling with you to these various places?

We nearly hit 90*F today and it was most unwelcome! Yes, the yellow haze of pollen is here, too, so I'm sneezing.

Read on!

I just love those string quilts. I see them on so many blogs and each time, I think what a wonderful way to use up those skinny scraps. I'll need to add that to my list to do someday soon. Thanks for sharing the photos from your bee meeting. Very fun.

Beautiful quilts by beautiful ladies! I am 'back down' with a second bout of this virus - this time the head & chest cold part of it - so the quilts' lovely colors soothed my eyes! You have a busy week ahead and I think you & sweet Sophie DEFINITELY need to sit, relax, read (you, not Sophie, unless she is VERY talented - LOL) and do not overdo! I received what you sent me, by the way, and it's now in a lil' frame in my room! THANK YOU, Susan! Love you big bunches!

Hey! Mary called me yesterday and said you were reading the Hedgehog book for Friday. I truly believe the book for this month is Leaving Gee's Bend, and I'm the hostess. At least, that's what I've got written down. It's very short, so you can read it before Friday. If you need a copy, I've got two.

Oh! I just finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog! It was wonderful - it's slow going at first, but the last and ending are worth it! Let us know how you like it! I sent my copy to my sister.
