March Marches In

Cad1df6e

I've been sitting here all morning perusing the inventory of a consignment website my friend Marla sent me. The store is actually not far from here, and I found a couple of chairs (see photo) that I love. Trouble is, I have chairs o'plenty. I have more chairs than I ever have visiting bottoms to sit in them. But look how pretty they are--and perfect for my new office project. Sigh.

I won the Ebay table cloth, by the way (see yesterday's post for photo). For the last 30 minutes of the auction, I sat with the iBook in my lap, watching and waiting, and in the last couple minutes I had to bid fast a couple of times. But I still got it at a good price, I think. Can't wait to see that pretty pink thing.

My sinus problem isn't going away, and I don't think it will until winter goes away and I can spend more time without central heating to dry them out. So I've decided to try to ignore them. Not easy to ignore burning, aching sinuses, but I'm trying.

Mike's Heart2 I did get a couple of things stitched this weekend. The heart is for Jack, who has just lost his wife to cancer. Most of you know Kim at Daisy Cottage. Well if you go here, you can read about the Hearts for Jack and maybe decide to make one yourself.

Last night, while watching "The Stand, I embroidered another Noah's Ark square (a lamb). Mostly this weekend, though, I just moved things around and made a bigger mess of my house.

Speaking of lambs, March came in last night like one. According to folk lore around here, that means she'll go out like a lion.

March is one of my favorite months. Usually the weather here is pretty good in March--not too cold, not too hot. But who knows this year? Snow is predicted for tomorrow.

Here are some other reasons I like March:

*Birthday month for me and my grandson Jesse

 *Daffodils

*St. Patrick's Day and Irish Pot Roast

Thank you all for your ideas and advice. Please know that I take every one of them into consideration. Some will show up in my finished room, some won't. But every one will be considered. Not only that, but it's fun hearing all your ideas. Thanks, friends.

Good morning! Congrats on the eBay win! That cheerful vintage tablecloth is coming to a home where it will be cherished for a good long time!

Now about those consignment chairs, since their upholstery seems perfect for your new office, should you go to the shop to sit and see if the chairs are the right size for you to be comfortable? Could you/would you put a chair or two of yours at the consignment shop and bring these two chairs home if they suit you? Would your kids or family like 1st dips on any current chair you elect to send out the door? If you get these two chairs, perhaps one could be in the book corner and the other be your desk chair.

Applause on getting a lamb ready for the ark!

I've made a heart for Jack but it's far more simple that yours.

Have you tried sinus medicine or an air humidifier yet to relieve your sinuses? Wishing you well!

Hugs!

Maybe if it's a consignment shop they will trade some of your chairs for the beautiful pink ones that would look gorgeous in front of those dark bookcases.

You have so many varied interests! Can't wait to see spring blossoms this year, it's been so cold!

Hi Susan, for sinus relief - would suggest that you try a "Neti Pot" if you haven't already......seriously worth a try. They are available online, in Natural food stores, and at least in CA. in the local Walgreens. There are alot of great articles about them online including one by Dr. Oz that gives positive information....and surely beats more drugs.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but before you bring consignment items into your home think of BEDBUGS. They are everwhere and extremely hard to get rid of once you get them.

Love your heart and those chairs are gorgeous - I'd get them anyway - you could always sell a couple of your old ones! Can't wait to see your lamb block - and for spring!

I'll second the humidifier (and the neti pot). I've used the humidifier in the bedroom for sleeping and occasionally in the family room. The moist air has been a great help in keeping my sinus problems at bay this winter.

I love this consignment site! I'd never heard of it - I may drive down there soon. I'd buy the chairs and maybe sell a couple of your own chairs at the store -

Boy, do I wish I lived close to you-that shop is AWESOME! I looked at all the things in it...do you think they deliver? :) How lucky you are to live close to it! Wish they had one here! So far, no new snow...even suppose to get 40 this week!! Amazing how a few degrees above freezing can make one giddy! I don't know if we have any bulbs coming up-still to much snow on the ground! Your March birthday calendar sounds like mine-2 daughters and a grand-daughter on 3 consecutive days, then anniversaries and another birthday! Makes me feel old just thinking about them! Love the heart you made...
Hope you have a great day!
Hugs from a sunny but cold Indiana

BED BUGS!!! Oh my goodness! I didn't even know they were around any more. That's surely something to think about. Do you think a good insecticide spray would take care of that? --Susan

I love those chairs - the same except colour as what I am looking for. Happy Birthday month - I think someone should have a virtual birthday party for you. Love those dotted candles - use to have some but were used too many times and haven't seen any since. Sinuses - try putting tin cans or pots or whatever full of water over your het registers - the moisture in the air helps. I too have a dog - so I use old pots so when Roscoe thinks he needs to drink the water he can. Alos you may want to try a Neti pot. A very small pot you fill with saline (salt solution and warm water). Then it gets gross - you whoose it up one nostril and then gravity brings it out the other one. It is actually a big help and it cleans all the extra glunk out. Happy day
