Leeds First United Methodist Church's first ever Women's Spiritual Conference was a huge success. The inspiration of our WOW leader, Veronica, this weekend event drew participants, speakers, and musicians from churches all over Leeds and throughout North Alabama. We all came away filled with amazing love provided by......
Praise music and song...
And certainly no gathering in a Methodist Church would be complete without tons of good food, including a plethora of desserts--and we had all that too. (See Greg's homemade chocolate chip cookies near the front of this photo? Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum!)
We owe the success of this valuable worship and learning experience to dozens of people, including our BICs (brothers in Christ) who provided invaluable service as humble servants (i.e., movers and lifters). I served as official photographer. I used one of Vann's lenses that I'm not experienced with (so I could get closer shots), but much of what I got was fuzzy shots. I hope Veronica isn't too disappointed.

The pink chairs are sitting in my basement, waiting to take up residence in my newly redecorated office, which of course isn't quite newly redecorated yet.
On Friday, when I had finally decided to make them mine, I loaded Sophie into our little old green pickup truck, and off we went to Pelham.
Encore Resales is quite a charming consignment shop for home furnishings. They even have an area in back that they call their thrift store where one can find yard-sale type stuff.
I took my camera along to take pictures, but I completely forgot about it when I got in the vicinity of those pink chairs and never took the camera out of the truck.
I'm hoping everyone has a wonderful sabbath. I'm going to church again. I briefly thought about staying home today and reading or knitting or doing something calm and soothing. After all the praising, singing, hand clapping, and eating of this weekend, I'm pooped! But then I remembered that Lori told me the choir is singing a rousing hymn this morning (the type she knows I love), so I'm going. Happy Sunday, everyone.

What did the speakers talk about:? what was the theme?

The theme for the weekend was Psalm 3:3--"But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head." Each speaker's talk dealt with how God shields us from the bad things of life, how we can trust him more, how we can not live a life of fear but one of confidence in our God.

I'm so glad you had a good time! And I WANT the dress that dancer is wearing. Only trouble IS, I couldn't fit INTO it because, in my lifetime, I've had FAR too many of the kinds of goodies in the following photo. Sigh ...!

I enjoyed reading about your wonderful day. As a pastor for over 47 years I enjoyed many days like this. Yes, I spent many days worshiping with women on days like this. If I didn't participate directly in the worship or study they were having I helped them have their day.

I'm SO glad you felt up to coming to the retreat - both days! I'm equally as glad you decided to come to church yesterday. Did you love our anthem or WHAT? Not to mention the wonderful company at lunch :-) I saw many leftover desserts Saturday afternoon but funny, Greg's cookies were nowhere to be found. I wonder if they all got eaten or if you had the rest stashed in your bag. That would explain your quick getaway!! (tee hee) Your buddy, LBJ
