Two Down, Two to Go

Jammies  A little crying, a lot of laughing, way too much eating. I made it through Christmas Eve Soup Night at The Yellow House and Christmas Day Dinner at my sister's house. Today is Ashleigh's (friend) wedding and tomorrow Joanne's (my sister) birthday party. Then I'm telling everyone I'm officially on hiatus for at least a week. No more cooking, partying, or going anywhere till after New Years (I hope).

Actually, I won't need to cook. I must have thought I was making soup for General Patton's Third Army. My refrigerator is full of containers of Santa Fe soup left over from Thursday night, as well as one large container of Andy's Italian wedding soup (she only cooked enough to feed a football team). So I have to get all that in the freezer today so it won't go bad. It was much too good to waste.

I truly hope everyone had as great a Christmas as I did. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have Vann here. But what a Christmas he must have celebrated, huh?

Here are a few photos of some gifts I received from family. The photo above shows my Christmas Eve PJs, a gift from Sophie of course. She also gave Andy a pair just like them.

Kindle
Vann planned to get me a Kindle for Christmas. I made sure his plan was carried out. More about my first attempts to use it later.

Fabric2
The makings for a new Christmas quilt for Christmas 2010 from Andy and Jesse.

Quantum
Quantum Mechanics lecture series on DVD by The Teaching Company from my sister Joanne.

Necklace
Very appropriate necklace from my niece Buffy (she made it herself).

Flowers
Beautiful bouquet from Phillip and Carrie.
     ***
I also want to wish my BIL Ben a happy birthday today. If you're reading this, Ben, I hope your day is delightful.

What cute pajamas!! They look very comfy!

Soup sounds wonderful, nice that you have enough to freeze. We had chopped beef barbeque from a local place for our Christmas dinner and will eat on that til its gone(we got 5 pounds). I'm having mine on a baked potato today.

Love the fabric for the Christmas quilt, I can't wait to see what you do with it!

A girl after my own heart! I get teased ALL the time about freezing soup. Ha! But guess who laughs on an unexpected cold day when I don't REALLY want to cook & I can pull out some delicious homemade soup! Yum! And you look adorable in your cozy pjs! Sophie, what excellent taste you have. I WISH I could wear pjs but even the large lady places don't make pjs to fit ME. I have a relatively 'normal' waist size but my thighs and booty are the size of the state in which I reside. LOL! If pjs DO pull up over my thighs & hips, they fall OFF my waist. Sigh. Your other gifts are wonderful, and so are YOU! You're right, incidentally! Vann must have had a GLORIOUS Christmas celebration! Don't laugh, but when I said goodnight to you last night (did I tell you I ALWAYS say good night to you and other heart-close friends who are far away?) I also told Vann good night. Rest a bit today! You've earned it! I love you!

Glad you had a nice Christmas...my mother is in the same boat as you...first Christmas alone. But you can only take one day at a time, one week, one month, and so on.

I love the PJ's and am jealous of the fabric (of course...it's my addiction)!

Get some rest before the new year...and remember?...Alabama vs TX is coming up soon...Roll Tide!

Susan, I so happy that you had a great Christmas. And, I agree that Vann must have experienced the most amazing Christmas of all.

I received a Kindle, too. I am anxious to read more about your first attempts later. So far, I have only charged and registered mine. Baby steps. ;-)

The soup sounds delish. I will send my grandson over. That guy loves him some soup.

I'm sitting here coveting your new jammies. Sophie has good taste! My soft and toasty new "lambchop" slippers from my sweet husband would look SO good with them!!
Sounds like we all had a good Christmas. Lily says hello! Love you

What wonderful gifts were chosen for you by those who love you! The pjs are too cute, the Kindle is choice, the fabrics are perfect, the Quantum Mechanics set is right up your alley, the necklace Buffy made (well done!!) is up another of your alleys, and the flowers are garden grown love!

Hang in there for the last two holiday season events. You can do it. Remember that water-proof mascara is your friend.

We freeze soup here, too. It just makes good sense: no wasted food and convenient quick suppers in the future.

Happy Birthday Ben!

Hugs!

My sister has had a Kindle since they first came out. She takes it everywhere with her and loves it! I made her a little book cover for it from the Moda Bake Shop pattern at the site below. Quick and easy to make--I used only 3 fabrics, so you can adjust the strip colors to suit what you like! Happy reading! Jan

I have thought of you over the holidays. My sister lost her husband last Christmas so I know this was sad for her too. I pray for you both. I have to know about that necklace. Will she share how she made that? And the soup recipes? Wow. I would love to have them. And forgive me but what is a kindle?? I wish for ou so many blessings this upcoming year.

That soup sounds delicious. Those jammies are darling. And you're right, what a celebration Vann must have had. My grandma (from my dad's side) died a few Christmas Eve's ago. And that is what dad and I said, what a day to arrive in Heaven, on Jesus's birthday. What a marvelous day.
