Continuing the Celebration

Charming gift

More goodies came in the mail yesterday--a box full of beautiful fabric treats and patterns (first photo) from my Charming Girls Quilt Club friends and a lovely card and ATCs from Joan X, an artist friend (second photo). Thank you, ladies. I am very blessed to have such good and caring friends. Whether with your gifts, cards, or comments, you've all helped make this holiday season much easier than it would have been otherwise.

ATCs My daughter Andy and I went to our friend Ashleigh's wedding yesterday afternoon. The event took place in a beautiful little country church up in St. Clair County, just north of us. Ashleigh was lovely in a blueish-grey silk gown that her talented mom Jennifer made, and a veil that went halfway down the aisle of the little church. Thomas (Ash's husband) looked good too, but not as pretty as his bride.

After the wedding, Andy and I went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner. Then I came home, walked Sophie, and nested on the couch for several hours while watching "Golden Girls" and "Criminal Minds" reruns.

This afternoon, I'm hosting a birthday party for my sister, Joanne. It will be a small affair, just family. My nephew Jed is frying a turkey for the occasion. It will be my first taste of fried turkey.

Somehow I've managed to make it through all this fun and frivolity with family and friends, and I'm very grateful. But I'm afraid the engine is running down quickly. After today, I'm going to do some serious resting. I'm going to lay in a supply of Lean Cuisines and salad and have some home-alone time. Well, not exactly alone--Sophie will be here.

I haven't really been depressed, as I thought I would be--at least not for long periods. A few times I have been hit with that heavy feeling of loss and grief and had to wash the feeling away with a few tears. But I've been able to spring back and enjoy the blessings that God had put here for me, especially friends and family.

I realize I still haven't posted the pillowcase instructions, but I will. And I also plan to write more about the Kindle (electronic book reader) and my experiences with it so far. But right now, I have to get off my duff and finish cleaning up my kitchen, get a shower, and be ready to party by 2:00 p.m.

I'm so glad you got a Kindle book!Do please share how you like using it as you try it out...I'm still undecided, but still WANT one!The thought of having ANY book immediately at my fingertips when having a bad day/week, etc. is mighty tempting!God bless you and Sophie in the New Year.....

Hi Susan!

By now, it's 4 down and none to go. Congratulations, you made it and did well. As you said, some tears as is expected and so normal, and on with life again thereafter. Par for this unwelcome course.

I'm joining you on the Lean Cuisine diet in the coming week and weeks.

As you cozy in, be good to you, give yourself permission to play, to snooze, to ignore what you don't want to do, and to take it all one day at a time. Shrea, shrea.

Hugs!

You are a wonder! And I'm so glad all the people who love you have SHOWN their love! You deserve every ounce of it, Susan! I look forward to hearing about the party AND about the Kindle! But most of all, I'm HAPPY to hear you plan to rest a bit for a few days. You've more than earned that. You & sweet Sophie cuddle up and relax! I LOVE YOU!

Sounds like you had a wonderful and busy weekend. I wish I could see a picture of that blueish-gray wedding gown. It sounds so romantic. I've thought about you this past week. I'm happy to hear you're doing well, keeping busy and finding some quiet time for yourself.

Susan, I am glad you have made it well thru the holidays. You have been very busy! I have tried to stay busy as well. Love all the fabrics you received. I need to get back to my sewing room. Please post about the Kindle. Amber was thinking about one for her birthday but could never decide if she would like it or not..I guess it was meant to be that I had not purchased it yet :(
God Bless and Hugs,
Donna
