The Quilting Devil Made Me Do It

6a011571f73a8f970b0120a60bd3f0970b-800wi There's nothing like a new challenge to get me enthused about a new project. I know, I know. The last thing I need is a new project until I finish some of the ones I've started. But wait till you see. You'll understand why I couldn't resist.

First of all, this is the quilt we're going to make. Isn't it beautiful? And what could be easier? A simple snowball block. So I signed up and ordered the book, 40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts.6a011571f73a8f970b0120a60bd474970b-800wi

At first I thought I might make my quilt in pinks instead of reds. After all, pink is just light red, so I'd be within the guidelines.

.

But then I saw this:

Rouenneries_sample_300

It's Rouenneries by French General for Moda. The color pallet is luscious: faded reds, dusty pinks, creams, and grays. The photo shows only a small sampling of the entire line. It wasn't easy to find what I wanted, a bundle of fat quarters. Hancock's website claimed they had it on backorder, until I ordered it. Then they sent me an e-mail telling me that "backorder" means they aren't going to get any more. But after an extensive search, I found the fat quarter bundle at Fabrics.com. and quickly ordered it. So, as soon as my book and fabrics arrive, I'll be set to begin a new project.

If you'd like to take part in this challenge, it's being sponsored by Allyson at Fat Cat Quilts and Nicole at Sister's Choice Quilts. Oh yeah, there's also a fabric swap involved in this challenge, plus prize giveaways and drawings. So now do you understand why I couldn't resist?

I was almost out of luck getting my bundle too. Thankfully Fabric.com still had some. I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

Love the quilt but am trying to make 2 (yes, 2) quilts before Christmas. I was just thinking this would be a dandy pattern for my blues and yellows until I read about red and white, so perhaps I pass on the challenge. I can at least think about it for a few days.

Back to sewing 4 patches the quick way a la Billie Lauder's "Quick Quilt Tips."

Hugs!

Nothing like a new project to get you moving along. If you feel like you can't finish any of the old ones, send them to me and I'll finish them for the women's shelter.

I pulled out the silks you sent me for my next project--going to be stunning!
