Better Late Than Never--I Guess

20090910_104123_CVS Caremark Flu Shot_Rose I reminded them that I spent a couple of weeks in bed recently fighting a real case of the flu, but my doctor and nurse felt I needed to get the shot anyway--so I did, yesterday. And I can't know if that's the reason for my physical condition this morning. After all, I've had severe flares when I haven't had a flu shot. But the fibromyalgia is having a party in my body this morning. The pain and stiffness are the worst they've been since last winter. I missed Bible study last night because I didn't feel like moving. I have book club this afternoon and don't feel like going. Sophie wants to go outside, and I don't feel like taking her. She doesn't care, so excuse me just a minutes, please.

We're back. Sophie took pity on me and didn't dawdle too badly.

In the housecleaning department, I seem to have hit, not an actual a plateau--I'm making a little progress--but I sure have shifted into a lower gear. The bedroom has proved to be a bigger challenge than I even thought, and I knew it would be big. But as you have all reminded me, I just have to take it slowly and be happy with a little progress each day.Capt.b6a3d717f4fc45edaf3488a98f44e27e.aptopix_nobel_peace_prize_obama_ny117

In closing, congratulations to our President Barak Obama on his recognition as winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. And, remember, it's not just a win for the President, but for all the people of the United States. All our buttons should be popping just a little bit this morning.

The flu shot scares me. I know it doesn't cause you to be ill but I know too many people that have gotten it and had ill effects, though I suppose the flu itself isn't much better and probably worse.

I second your congrats!

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness....here we go disagreeing again! I was shocked to hear about Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. "Peace" amidst the turmoil in our country regarding health care, greed, deceit in the highest levels of government, and rampant corruption in politics! He has promised so much, but hasn't "peacefully" delivered. Maybe his initial promise of "change" swayed the panel to award him the prize....I just don't see this as prize-worthy.
Don't worry, we are still blog friends who respect each others ideas and differences.
Hugs to you

The one year I didn't get a flu shot (don't remember why) I was sooo sick. I'm not sure that had anything to do with it, but I have not missed a shot since. If it's raining out your way, that may be affecting your fibro. I'm not convinced I don't have it, though I've never been diagnosed. Anyway, it's playing havoc with the leg I broke this summer. Nice Sophie. My Oscar doesn't linger in the rain, thank goodness.

Hi Susan, sorry to feel you are under the weather again - hopefully the recovery will be faster this time round. About the bedroom - take it easy - it'll all fall into place in time.
About Obama, sorry I can't agree that he deserves it (but can't really think of anyone else who does) - I am sure his intentions are good but given the world (and political) situation the chances of "peace in our time" seem very faint to me.
I was born in Germany just at the end of the second world war and my evening prayers always ended "and please don't let there be another war", unfortunately those prayers have not yet been heard.
Wishing you improved health real soon!!!!

Hi Susan
Sorry to read that you are a bit under the weather, its your body telling you to take things a little slower.
I think that you have made great strides with your house organising; it certainly looks very nice, such nice quilts I see in all your rooms.
I am with you Susan that we should congratulate Predsident Obama on his prize. It seems like he is really trying to make the World a better place but doesn't always get coopertion from other countries. I'm a friend from N of the 49th parralel have no political allegiance in your Country.

Susan, just take it easy today. You have been through so much that maybe your body is telling you to just slow down. Maybe you just need to take baby steps for a while. Rest and let your mind and body heal. Hang in there, the cloud will lift.

Susan, I'm with you...no matter what our politics are, as Americans, we should all be standing tall for the recognition. I just have to say to that I also agree that blogs like this shouldn't be used for people to take offense about a statement that just happens to be directed at a politician. Please don't take offense anyone, please. I'm just saying that whether you are a group of cyberspace friends or in your face real time friends, politics are like a stick of dynamite if you start in on them they blow up every time and cause feelings. The glue that binds us together as friends is quilting. Now, on a more personal note Susan, I'm sorry your in a flare. They are so horrible. My Sclero flare started some time during the night. No storms are forcasted as that will usually start one. I'm sure yours was brought on by the flu shot, it does the same to me. I'm so glad we have doggie doors and a big yard so I don't have to get up and take Sadie Jo or Persnikety Friskie out. Hopeing you feel better soon. Keeping you in my prayers.

Sorry if my statement offended - it was certainly not meant to. I admire your President and what he stands for - enough said on this subject (from me at least). Bashfully, CarlaH

No one has offended me here, NO ONE, and I hope that holds true with all. I just didn't want my desire to publicly congratulate President Obama and our country on this awesome honor to turn into name calling and mean spiritedness. Although we're far from perfect, I am very proud of our country tonight. I want the good feeling to last.

I'm about 20 minutes away from leaving for a three day gathering with my friends who, like me, practice and live the trditional ways. I will be so relaxed by Tuesday when I'm back on line, you will wonder where hyper-Kai went. LOL! I am hoping you have no ill effects from the flu shot, and that the mean old Fibro subsides QUICKLY. As for Obama's recognition, I am cheering. Same reason YOU are, my friend. LOVE YOU, SUSAN. Don't overdo!

I hope you feel better soon and take care of yourself Susan. You are too marvelous to feel under the weather.
I also agree with your sentiment on Obama. Lots of hugs!

Thank you all. Y'all are so awesome--no matter which side of the aisle you lean toward. Or if you don't lean at all. You're the best!

Your house looks great, can you come visit me with your cleaning supplies? *smile* I hope the flu shot helps, I'm in a classroom with 26 germ-y kids, today sitting at their level and the little guy next to me turns towards me and sneezes-! Yikes. Oh well. pokey

Hi girlfriend!

Sorry to hear that your fibro. has you feeling bunged up. Bother!

Did you give your babies Tempra drops when they had their immunizations (no discussion of this, please!)? I did, so when I have my flu shot each year, I kindly dose myself with two sequential rounds of a non-aspirin feel better pill just to ward off any aches.

I also cheer President Obama's award and hope this is the pride that overcomes the petty things that divide. Peace is something - like quilting - that we can all hope for, pray for, and work for.

Speaking of quilting, three little tops and their backings went off the quilter today!!!!!!!!!! Those that went are the Halloween little quilt I made during Pat Sloan's OP challenge, another just like it with some different fabrics that I made this week, and a Christmas Laurel Burch panel with borders I added. All joyfully colorful and I cannot wait to get them back! Making bindings tomorrow so I'll be ahead.

Be well, dear friend! Hugs!!

Take it easy on yourself, Susan. But, I know getting everything cleaned and organized must feel good to you, too.

God truly has blessed our country through the ages. A sign of hope for the world can only be a good thing. Kudos!

I had forgotten all about Tempra drops. Yep, we used them when I had little ones. --Susan

I stumbled apon your blog and I am sorry that you are feeling so crummy! I do know that I finally got sick of the guessing game that my doctors were playing when I had thyroid problems and I finally went to a naturalpathic doctor and now I am off my meds and I feel great. A multi-dose flu shot has mercury and other icky stuff in it and that may be what caused your body to revolt against you. It was to much for your system to handle after being sick and having to deal with fibro. After extensive research on how vaccines are made when my son went from a normal happy baby to having every autism symptom in the book after his Hib shot, I no longer am willing to subject my family to something that is totally unnecessary and harmful. I am thankful that we caught it early and with the help of our ND, we have totally kick autism in the butt and our baby is fully recovered and doing great. But, I hope that you feel better, you are a very talented person and your creations are very beautiful.
