From Out of the Past

MM Daddy & PP

This is so awesome. It's a photo of my daddy (center) and my grandparents. When my great aunt Annie died recently, this photo came to light.

Daddy was born July 4, 1911, so I guess the photo is circa about 1912 or maybe '13. I have never seen a photo of Daddy any younger than 12 or 13.(Is that a dress he's wearing?) And I've never seen a photo of my grandparents as young people. They must have been still teenagers in the photo. This is really blowing my mind. From the looks of Paw Paw's suit, this was before the invention of the iron.

Daddy looks exactly like my nephew Reed. And Maw Maw looks a little like me when I was young, I think. Below are my Daddy (Gordy) and my nephew (Reedy). What d'ya think? When asked who was in the old photo, Reedy said, "Me." Compare those ears! That hair! Those eyes!

Below Daddy and Reedy are photos of Maw Maw and me. I guess the resemblance isn't as close as I thought, but we have the same cheeks.

I don't know who Paw Paw looks like--Howdy Doody maybe?

Neat photos! Your grandmother was very pretty - and I saw a family resemblance when looking at the high school photo you posted the other day.

Neat picture! It is so nice to see an old photo where someone is smiling. In most old photos everyone is very serious. The little guys definitely are related! :-) I think I see a resemblance between you and MawMaw. In the photo, it looks like she might have lost her front upper teeth which, if that is the case, would change the appearance there. Having said that, with or without, she was a very pretty lady. A sweet family.

Your grandmother looks like she was such a lovely girl. Just the sort of person one would want as a friend. The babies resemblences are uncanny! What can I say about your Grandpa? He looks like a very hardworking young man.

Love the pictures and, as has been said, love the smiles, too. In old photos from my family, there are too few smiles.

It is amazing to see the family resemblances!!

My father was born July 13, 1910 in North Carolina and I have a picture of him at age two and he was wearing a dress. It was the norm for toddler boys at the time. Knickers came next!

So happy these pictures were found!

Hey lady..

Your grandmother must have had a great sense of humor because no one hardly ever smiled in these old photos. Love the backdrop the photographer used...crease in the sky and all...Thank you for sharing.
