Well, no, the house I grew up in did not look this bad in reality. But it looked even worse in the dream I had last night.
The home of my youth was an old house, which has since been demolished and an even older, but larger, house moved onto the lot. The floors squeaked, the rooms were drafty, there was no air conditioning, there were always a couple of leaks in the ceiling, and the doors had no locks (but nobody locked their doors back then anyway). But, all in all, I guess it was an ok house for the times.
In my dream, last night, Vann and I lived in that house--except now it was literally falling down. The dreamscape house really did look a lot like the one in the photo. The foundation was crumbling, and holes were appearing in the ceiling as we looked. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, and the floor in every room was at a different level.
We were having to pack up and move out because the house was self destructing. All our friends and family (and even several strangers) were there to help us. The interior was a wreck. Every t
able top, every bed, every chair, every inch of floor space were covered with litter and junk and dirty clothes and food and do-dads, and I don't know what all. Sort of like this photo>>>>>
There were also kittens, and I had missplaced the catfood and the kittens were hungry.
Our friends, Bob and Mary Beth, were helping us clean out the litter and pack up what was worth keeping. Bob had brought beer for everyone. I opened the refrigerator to get a beer. It was completely stuffed (the refrigerator was) with cans and cans and cans of Old Milwaukee and Papst Blue Ribbon. "Didn't you get any good beer?" I asked Bob. "That is good beer," he replied, looking like I had hurt his feelings.
My sister, Ramey, finally found the cat food, but by then I had lost the kittens. My sister, Joanne, was there too, and she made the comment, "I can't believe you've let your house get in this condition." I was appauled myownself, but on the other hand, I was very tired and was satisfied that my fatigue was the reason for my squalid house.
There was a very large bathroom that at one point I had to utilize. It had two doors leading into it from different parts of the house. Neither door had a lock of course. I would close one door and go to the other to close it, and someone would come in the first door I had closed. I did that several times, going back and forth between doors trying to keep them closed and keep everyone out so I could wee-wee. But people kept trouping through the room, so I just decided I'd ignore them and do what I had to do. I think that's when I woke up. Or at least that's all the dream I remember.
Anybody want to take a stab at analyzing that one?
30 Limericks in 30 Days
There once was a woman from Leeds,
Her garden was infested with weeds.
She grabbed up her hoe
And away she did go,
Yelling, "Yes! This is just what it needs."

Are you ok Susan?? That's a very telling dream if you are feeling a little overwhelmed. Caretaking, no time for your "self", things not up to your standards...
Dreams don't always reflect what is actually going on. Sometimes its an unconcious fear of what might happen, in your case it sounds like a worry that you aren't doing enough, a fear that if you slip up on a delicate balance things could go bad fast.
I think this dream is telling you to stop worrying. Just my 2 cents, lol.

I don't like to put too much meaning into dreams because I have lots of BAD dreams that come from who knows where! And when I can't figure something out, I blame it on hormones! lol Hope you have sweet dreams tonight!

Hugs!
Perhaps the dream is a wail about loss of control? Fear not, your friends and family are there to help in their own special ways and even with the smallest of problems, like kittens!
As Molly said, do mind taking good care of yourself, caregiver!
Love the limerick du jour!

Wow! That is some dream! Remember that dreams are just your brain's way of working things out so try not to dwell too much on what it may mean. Or maybe it was something you ate LOL!

This might help you understand your dream - it sounds to me like you have some pretty hefty anxiety and dreams are the way our brains let it out.

It may give you some insight. I used to have dreams, night after night, revisiting the same house that had stairs that just went to different new rooms. Made no sense, until I talked to my doc about it. :)
