Porridge Pot

Porridge Mr. Fibro Monster is on the loose again. He's been pestering me for several weeks after going easy on me for a couple of months. When I woke up this morning, I felt mighty like I had been slammed into a brick wall and stomped upon.

"What you need is some comfort," I said to myself. So I had two cups of Folger's Black Silk (already made by Vann when I got up), doctored with plentiful amounts of International Coffee French Vanilla Creamer. Then I took a hot, hot shower, using the new massaging shower head (instealled by Vann). Then it was time to cook breakfast.

When it comes to comfort food, nothing beats a bowl of hot oatmeal with butter and cream and sugar (preferably brown sugar, but I didn't have any). Sure, and when it comes to oatmeal, nothing beats steel cut, Irish oatmeal. So that's what I made. For Vann (who detests oatmeal of any nationality) I made scrambled eggs, cheese grits (southern porridge), and sausage. We both had a hot biscuit with honey and a wee dram of o.j.

It's March, and I'm feeling Irish. I have a new recipe for split pea and corned beef soup I'm going to make in a while. But first I have to go to the grocery store for the split peas and corned beef.

Oh for Pete's sake! I was just looking at my calendar to see when is St. Patrick's Day, and I noticed that my birthday is Wednesday. Well, that one snuck up on me. I was thinking a had a couple more weeks. Sigh.....

Happy Monday everyone. May your week be fairly full of blessings, like this one:

Green

If God sends you down a stony path,
may he give you strong shoes.

Hi! Bummer about the fibro hassle and hope he's back in his lair and quiet very soon. Springtime is no time for that bother.

Okay, so where in Leeds do you find Irish oatmeal? What is different about it as compared to good old Quaker Oats? I'm curious.

I love the quote, too.

Happy almost Birthday to you!!

Here's hoping you have a lovely birthday, and your recipe for split pea and corned beef soup sounds intriguing. DH loves pea soup - me - not so much - but that sounds like one I'd like to try. May I ask where you found the recipe?
