Seven years ago today, this little fur ball came into the world. She was a yankee then, born in New York State to a grey schnauzer named Bailey and a black poodle named Ebony. Sophie's all Alabama girl now.
We met Bailey's human mom, Dawn, on the internet a couple of months before the pups were born. We were looking for a schnoodle, and they weren't easy to find back then. When we learned the New York pups were going to be up for adoption, we put in our adoption papers for Sophie.
"What if we don't have any girls," Dawn asked. "Well of course there'll be a girl," I answered. "Who ever heard of a boy named Sophie?"
Bailey gave birth to two girls, and I don't know how Dawn knew which one was Sophie. I guess Soph told her. (That's Dawn's hands in the photo at left. That photo was taken before we ever met the Sophinator.
It has been a fun seven years. Sophie has brought so much joy not only to our house, but also to the whole neighborhood. Everyone around here knows Sophie, and she knows where everyone keeps a supply of treats.

Hi. I'm not a blogger, but I do follow several quilters' blogs. I just wanted to write you a quick note to tell you about my sister. Last Sunday, Jan. 4th, she had her 10th anniversary of the day she had surgery for her pancreatic cancer. I just wanted you to know that there are people who beat this disease, and prayers, laughter, and positive thinking by the patient and his/her loved ones do as much or more as traditional medical treatments in the healing process. So keep thinking good thoughts!
