It's been a busy few weeks around The Yellow House. The workmen finally finished yesterday with the siding (and it's beautiful), but I'm not quite ready to reveal the entire house yet. Got a little more spruce-ups to do first. But here are a few photo hints of what she looks like in her new buttery yellow duds.
Isn't the scalloped siding (they call it fish scales) on the dormers pretty? And we also had new light fixture put on the front porch. Pewter.
We had initially planned for the area on each side of the front door to be wicker-colored shake style siding. The men put it up, we walked out in the street to have a good look, and wow! was it tacky! I sheepishly asked Vann and he asked the workers if we might change our minds at this late date and opt for the yellow board and batting where the cedar shakes were. They agreed immediately. They're such good guys. We had to pay a little more, but really not too much, to have them take it off and redo it with yellow. But even they admitted that the wicker shakes didn't look good.
This morning, we cleaned all the junk off the back porch and Vann pressure washed it. I'm really wanting to get some wicker furniture,
paint it a nice blue or green or white, and make an inviting outdoor sitting area there.
Yesterday, I baked half the day, and chauffeured my grandson Jesse around the other half. Jesse's truck is broken. He's supposed to go to work at Sam's as soon as the results of his drug test come back. I told him this might be the first test in a long time that he'll ace.
Do you know about Inchies, those fun little 1" square pieces of art that are starring in art trades all over the Internet?
I'm taking part in a SwapBot Inchies swap, and here are pictures of the ones that my two partners sent me. Mine go out tomorrow.
The inches on the left from Emily. She also sent me a card with pretty pastel ribbons. The ones on the right are from Cherry.
Finally, for those of you who asked for my PEACH COBBLER RECIPE, you can find it here.

Susan, your house just looks so HAPPY to me! I love the soft yellow & the white trim! And I can really visualize the wicker furniture on the deck, waiting for you & Vann to sit & relax! I wish I could tour each BIT of your home, inside AND out, 'cause I think it's a comfy home, filled with love!

Your home is just lovely> I wish I could see it in person. it looks so homey and warm. Can't wait for more pictures.
I love the inches too.
You did a great job on yours and the ones you received are adorable. Yes, I see where you could get sore fingers even without a glue gun.
Great job and of course your work is wonderful. When are you making your next altered playing card?
Hugs
Patti
