A Treasure Unearthed

Clock When I retired from my 23-year editing career in 2001, I packed up my office in about a dozen brown cardboard boxes, which Vann hauled home and stored in the basement. Over the first few months after retirement, I brought some of the boxes upstairs and unpacked them and put stuff away or got rid of it--mostly books, magazines, and photography.

But my enthusiasm for unpacking soon waned, and six of those boxes have remained in the basement over the years. Vann is now reorganizing the basement, and he had Phillip bring those six big brown boxes up to my office and set them in the middle of he floor. And there they sit.

I opened one of those boxes yesterday, and look what I found. I had forgotten all about this clock, which I bought at a Southern Living prop sale, I don't know how many years ago. It won't run, so I need to find a clock repair person to fix it. Anybody know one?

Phillip and Carrie and their dogs Ripple and Weilii left at about 5:00 this morning. They all came into our room and woke us up with hugs and kisses, then they were gone in a flurry. I miss them already.

My body tells me the moon is nearing fullness. So I look at my calendar, and sure enough--Saturday is full moon. I'm still taking the Vitamin B Complex, and I think it's helping with the fatigue some, but this body can surely feel the tidal pull of Old Man Moon in all his fine gibbousness. Most everything on me is experiencing some degree of pain this morning.

This is supposed to be baking day, the day when I make goodies to sell at the church ladies' weekly bake sale. But Gertrude is holding no appeal for me right now. I have a feeling I won't get much done for the next few days. But that's ok; I have lots of good books to read.

Sometimes unpacking old boxes full of memories can hold fun. I wonder what else you have in there? I hope you are feeling better and ready to give Gertrude a run for her money soon.

Too bad we can't block your inner clock from the pull of the moon. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you.

Cute clock...hope you find someone to fix it.

After you started with the B complex, I got some at Sam's. Nasty smelling, even nastier tasting. Hope you feel better soon.

Adorable clock! It's always fun to find a hidden treasure among packed up boxes. Maybe one of the only joys associated with packing. :-) Your dog is adorable. Poodle mixes are the best, aren't they? Thanks for adding me to your blogroll, by the way. Hope you are feeling better!

Aaargh! I am very disappointed that husbands do not grow out of leaving boxes in the middle of the floor for us to deal with. (Though my husband is in his forties---I don't know why I woud think he would grow out of anything but pants.)

Take it easy. Hope you feel perkier soon.

I'm glad you are back. Thanks for your sweet comments on my posts. I still have boxes too. I kind of know what is in them, Some stuff I don't know where they belong here. I fear nowhere. I love the clock. A 'find', but I don't think I have any surprises. I'll let you know if I find a treasure.

Feel better soon, Jeanne

Yep, those of us with chronic diseases can tell when the moon is full; also we can tell better than the weatherman when a change of weather/barometer is coming! Take the meds and hit the bed/sofa with good books for a few days.I'll be thinking of you. Thanks for sharing that cute "vintage" clock!
