We had another successful bake sale yesterday. We're more than halfway to our goal of $4,800 to renovate the fellowship hall kitchen.
This time I made a Hummingbird Cake (photo at right) and a pan of Cinnamon Biscuits (photo below, right).
An old school chum whom I hadn't seen for decades came by and bought a cake. I didn't recognize her, but she knew me. She said she could tell it was me by my mouth (that figures).
We were doused by a rainstorm about halfway through the sale; and even though our sale was under a tent, somehow I still got soaking wet, and now my sinuses and fibro are giving me grief. I guess working two hours in wet clothes with wet hair is not good for a person.
Just before the deluge, I found this (see photo below, left). I absolutely love homemade vegetable soup; don't you? The people in the tent across from us were selling this, among other things. I also got some scrumptious goat cheese with pineapple and pecans from them. So good on Ritz crackers.
Treasures arrived in the mail this morning, but I haven't had time to photograph them. So I'll tell you all about that later.
Hope all my blogging buddies are having a good weekend.
I just love y'all!

Oh, wow, those cinnamon rolls wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds with me around!
I have a wonderful vegetable soup recipe. My son James constantly bugs me to make it. Guess it's time to start looking for soup bones!

What, please, makes it a Hummingbird Cake? I know it LOOKS delicious! But it is the plate of cinnamon buns which make me want to put on a pot of coffee - okay, ANOTHER pot of coffee - and dive in! The soup and flavored goat cheese? Oh, YUM! (And look for the promised book. I mailed it today.)

Your baked goods looks scrumptious, but I am so sorry that you are now hurting. Maybe some of that delicious looking soup will help.
Take care - and y'all are doing a great job!

Love all the baked goods and soup pics. I bet your kitchen smells absolutely heavenly! I know my sinuses act up when a storm comes through...something to do with the drop in barometic pressure causes pressure in my head. Hope you are feeling better quickly.

Susan, you constantly amaze me. First, I saw the picture of your Hummingbird Cake, and I was going to tell you that my mother loves Hummingbird Cake.
Next, I saw your Cinnamon Biscuits - and now I have to tell you that my mother loves Cinnamon Rolls. Please share how you make the biscuits. I like to have treats for my mother. She turned eighty years old this week.
I hope you feel much better soon. Maybe some of that soup will fix you right up.

Just out of curiosity... How much did your HummingBird cake sell for? My MIL was part of a bake sale & Her Betty Crocker Cake sold for $100! (But then again everything was priced at $100 or more - they made $30,000.)
