Monday Morning With Monsters

Cyndis_block_2Today was the regular monthly meeting of my quilting bee, The Piecemakers. We met at Donna's house. Mary U. picked me up, and we had a pleasant drive looking at all the dogwood, azaleas, wisteria, and other spring flowers that are in full bloom. (Just ask my respiratory system.) Ten of us showed up. Mary S. is back in Ukraine for a visit, and Rita was busy elsewhere.

Pictured at left are two blocks from Cyndi's "Monsters" quilt that she's making for her grandchild, who is yet to be conceived (except in Cyndi's heart). Cyndi's mom, Gerry, embroidered the blocks (by hand), and Cyndi was asking advice about sashing and border fabrics. It all looks great to me--unless that grandchild turns out to be a little girl.

We talked about our annual October bee retreat, which is scheduled for The Red Rooster where we have held in in prior years. But the consensus this year is that we want to moove it to Magnolia Park, Cyndis_block_2_4which is only about a 10-minute drive for me, up in St. Clair County. In fact, it's much closer for everybody. Red Rooster is a couple of hours away near Cullman. Sally and I are going to check out Magnolia on Wednesday, just to be sure.

After bee, Vann and I had hamburgers, fries, and sweet tea at Hamburger Heaven--definitely not on my diet, but they were very good. Then we went by Sam's where Vann loaded up on reading material for our beach trip in a couple of weeks, and I bought a quilting magazine.

Both of my work rooms, the sewing room and the office, are utter and total wrecks. Only I can tell I'm making progress. I still don't have the old chest moved from the sewing room.

The weather has turned very warm here. I have a feeling we've seem the last of winter for now. I think I can move my plants out of the kitchen onto the back porch. I think I'll give it a try. That's a sure way to get another freeze.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and is looking forward to a week of creativity and fun.

Oh that hamburger place sounds divine!! The monster blocks are too cute too, even though they aren't yours.

I know how it is about working and being the only one who knows the progress you've made. Seems like Mark comes home and I tell him how I've worked ALLLL day long cleaning and organizing and the house looks worse(and I mean WaY worse) than when he left! Oh well.

We are hoping the winter weather is over but it has been chilly in the mornings, more than I remember from years before.

I think it is so wonderful that you have this talent that allows you to create so much beauty.

It is still a bit chilly here, too. The high yesterday was in the fifties. I heard that we will hit eighty one day this week.

I'm holding off with some of the plants I want because of that exact thinking. Let me do it, and we will surely get a late freeze.

The monster blocks are a hoot. I have a granddaughter that would love it. The baby blanket I made for her (after she was conceived, but before being born) featured children dressed in Halloween costumes. Monsters are not just for boys!
