Bumble Bee Colors

YellowblackNormally, I'm not strongly attracted to the modern fabric designs like this collection from Alexander Henry. I usually prefer something a little more romantic (all right, then, a lot more romantic). But this one grabbed me right away when I saw it on the Hancock Fabrics of Paducah site. The mailman brought the package this morning; and, in person, they're even more striking than they were in the photo that grabbed me. I think it's the color combination of bright yellow and black, more than the actual designs, that attracted me. The whole Bumblebe stack of fat quarters reminds me of bumble bees. I love bumble bees.

I'm not sure what I'll make from these yet. I'm thinking they would look great made into a Trixie Bag. Or a tablecloth for the back porch, with matching cushions for the back porch chairs. Any suggestions?

I continue to feel pretty good. Maybe it's the weather--all sunny and pretty and not too warm. I also continue to clean and reorganize. I was thinking this morning that just a few years ago I would have had both these rooms whipped into shape in a day or so. No anymore. Parts of my office are already in great shape. I just have a few more things to organize, the biggest being my bookshelves. I dread that job.

A friend talked me out of giving away all my paper craft supplies. And now that I have them all put put away, I agree. I know there'll be a time when I'll want to play Sophie_april_9with them, and I'll be sorry if they're gone.

A year ago this week, Sophie's life was hanging in the balance as she battled hemolytic anemia. She's with us, strong and frisky, today thanks to God, some good doctors, her own little strong will, and the well wishes and prayers of many, many friends, many of you included. To thank you again, here's Sophie.

"Woof woof woof, woofy woof."

Thank you, Miss Sophie. Now, back to the spring cleaning project.

I love your fabrics, Susan. My guest room is black and mustard (with a black iron bed I had to make the color work!). So I immediately loved your selections.

That Sophie is a cutie. And glad you're continuing to feel better.

I'm so glad Miss Sophie is enjoying life. I can tell she is one much loved girl.

Oh my, Susan. You are so talented. I just adore that Trixie bag. I, on the other hand, can't sew a straight line. Statewide alarms go off if I even look at a needle. Warning, warning - armed and dangerous.

I'll just have to stick with having a true appreciation of the sewing and creative talents of others.

I love that color combination, it's striking. I usually dislike yellow, but combined with the black it screams summer. I'm glad to hear you're keeping your paper stuff. I am always hopping from one thing to another, and would feel lost if some of my supplies I hardly ever use are there.
