Good Tuesday Morning!

ScarfI spent the day at the hospital yesterday. My daughter, Andy, had a partial hystie. All went well, and she should  be coming home tomorrow.

When I got home, look what I found waiting for me! Phyllis of Carolina Arts sent it to me. It's knitted with luscious multicolored ribbon. I think it's the most beautiful thing! Thank you so much, Phyl.

I must tell you about this latest handy device for the kitchen. All my life, it seems, I've been on a quest for a method of cooking rice that doesn't clump up in a sticky wad, stick to the pan so that you need a blow torch to clean it, and look like a wad of something you found in the forest when you put it on a plate. WELL, I'VE FOUND IT!Rice_custard
I attended a Pampered Chef party a few weeks ago at a neighbor's house. That's where I learned about the Pampered Chef Rice Cooker Plus. I was a little skeptical (but hopeful) when I ordered it. Well, as soon as my rice cooker was delivered, I commenced to cook rice (in the microwave). And it came out just about perfect. We had a little left over so I made this little ramekin of rice custard. It didn't turn out too well. I didn't put enough sugar in it, and I think I cooked it a little too long, but it's pretty.

I understand you can cook other things besides rice in the PC Rice Cooker Plus, but I don't know what yet. I'm going to have to do some recipe research on the internet to find out.

I close with a photo of a quilt I made back in the 80s, when calicoes were popular. I took it to retreat with me and it had a musty smell to it like our sleeping dorm. So I washed it and hung it on my back porch to dry. I thought it gave a little bit of brightness to the late winter afternoon drab of our back yard (which now I realize you can't really see because I cropped the photo so tight).

The colorway on that scarf is fantastic!! I had no idea they had microwavable rice cookers, that's cool. We have an electric one and I use it all the time for everything. Then the quilt is just amazing, it just looks like it's begging to be snuggled with. Thanks for posting all that, it's awesome eye candy.

Hope Andy is on the mend! That ribbon scarf must have been just the thing to give your day a boost after being at the hospital.
I have never heard of that type of rice cooker, but will look into it.

Yikes, prayers for Andy's speedy recovery, poor girl!!

Lovely quilt there, I love calicos, even the old 1980s ones, lol. And, I love that block! The scarf is neat-o too, I think I have that yarn!

I'm a former Pampered Chef junkie, in remission for now but occasionally I have a flare-up. It has been a while since I attended a party, at least 4-5 years, but I LOVE their stuff, especially the stoneware casseroles and such. I have never had luck with rice cookers(I think I over-fill them) but I've never seen a microwave
one before. Maybe I need to investigate further...

Regarding the rice cooker, I've heard that you can also cook veggies, soups, and stews, and you can use it to re-heat leftovers.
