I mentioned in my earlier post this morning our tradition of standing an egg on its end on the equinox each year. Well, here it is. We did it.
Whether this will work any other day of the year, I cannot swear. And I'm not sure what the feat proves. But we always get it to work on the spring equinox. We mostly forget about it on the fall equinox and just stand a pumpkin on its end.
Edited after some research: Sadly, that esteemed website, snopes.com, has again destroyed the magic and wonder in favor of hard science. According to their entry, this trick can be accomplished on any day of the year--not just the equinoxes. Hmmmph! What do they know? All I can say is that I've never done it on any day except the spring equinox. Ignore the fact that I've never TRIED to do it on any other day besides the spring equinox.

Well, pooh on Snopes. I love the picture.
And besides, sometimes fiction is much more fun than fact. Fun wins.

What fun are they?
Hey, I'm glad you like the planter. It's one of my 'clearance babies.' My daughter is a florist and marked it way, way, way down after the holiday. She's the manager so she can do anything she wants...even putting a ridiculously low price on something for mom. Just don't tell anyone she plays favorites!
