A Respite from Rabbits

Lamp_3Enough with the rabbits for a while. I want to show you this lamp that I found at the Thrift Store on Friday. I paid just under $15 for it, but it didn't look nearly this good when I got it. The cord was frayed (I wouldn't dared have plugged it into electricity), and it was dirty and stained.

I loved it though, so I bought it anyway and turned it over to my talented husband who rewired it, put in new hardware, and cleaned it up. The shade didn't come with it either; it's one I already had. Now isn't it pretty. Vann thinks it's probably old.

Thanks to all of you who sent birthday wishes. Yesterday was one of the best birthdays ever. Vann took me to Olive Garden (which I love) for lunch. I had Chicken Marsala and Vann had Chicken Something Else. Along with their great salad and bread sticks, we over-ate and still had enough to bring home for lunch today. I thought, since it was my birthday, I'd have dessert too. But there was no room.

Altered Playing Card #11/52
Speaking of my Birthday, I received a lovely piece of altered art from Jenny R. of of the ClothPaperStudio Yahoo Group. Jenny's art inspired me for a design for altered playing card #11 in my series. Here it is.

Card_11_3

Jenny's creation is the embroidery floss spindle. I added a green paint wash to the card, the torn piece of green striped tissue paper, and the piece of ribbon. It's called "Sing," of course.

Thanks, Jenny, for your lovely rememberance.

Jenny has a wonderful craft site with all kinds of fun stuff to do. It's called Craft Test Dummies. I recommend you pay her a visit.

This lamp is absolutely beautiful. I love finding treasures in thrift shops.
I also got a kick out of the embroidery floss spindle on the card. I enjoyed seeing all of your rabbits.

I'm glad you had a great birthday!
Wow, that lamp is awesome. It takes a good eye to see the potential in something...and a smart husband to make it useable, LOL!

Your lamp looks GREAT! I'm currently in the process of rewiring a beautiful lamp, similar to yours, that the cats had peed on so many times it had to be diassembled, cleaned and rewired. Does anybody know how to keep cats from peeing on things? Does anybody want a cat, or two, or three?
