Let's Start With This Fungus

SchroomsI'm not sure if you call these mushrooms or just fungus or what. I think the green stuff is lichen. But, anyway, I thought this dead tree with that stuff growing on it looked cool, so I took a photo.

Here I am, one day away from retreat, and I've hardly got anything ready. I haven't even made all my challenge blocks to take for the drawing--just the rabbit so far.

In addition to getting everything ready and packed to take with me, I need to do laundry and ironing. And I haven't done my altered playing card for this week. And I'm late with yet another altered book in the round robin.

I'm only going to take one or two projects (not everything in the sewing room like I usually do) so I think I can get it packed and ready in short order. I don't know about the ironing and laundry and all that other stuff. I think maybe some things will be left undone.

Today was a busy one. First I had a dentist appointment at 9:30 to get my teeth cleaned, then a haircut, then lunch with Vann at DQ, then to Hancock Fabrics to get some more blues to make a memory quilt for a friend of my daughter's whose getting married in June (the friend's getting married, not my daughter), then to BOM! where I bought a copy of Deepak Choprah's new book, The Third Jesus. That's what I'm taking to retreat with me for reading material. Well, and maybe a Greg Iles thriller that I got last week and haven't read yet. When we got home, I cleaned up the kitchen (the sink was full of last night's dinner dishes--I used to never do that), then I crawled into my big chair with my current book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. I almost finished it before I fell into a deep snooze. I woke up when Sophie and Vann came back from visiting a neighbor. I'm going back in a few minutes to finish the book so I can start on Choprah.

I just won an unbelievable blog giveaway. I still can't believe it. Nicole at Sister's Choice gave away a beautiful quilt that she made in honor of her first anniversary as a blogger. Her doggy Ozzie drew my name. I still can't believe it. Out of 140 names, that sweet beast reached his little snoot into that basket and lapped up my slip of paper. Only trouble was, then he wouldn't give up the slip of paper. Nicole finally got it away from him, shook off the doggy slobber, put the pieces back together, and there was my name. As soon as the quilt gets here, I'll post a picture. In the meantime, you can see a picture of it on Nicole's blog. So go on over and have a look. It's the red one she showed on Feb. 12.

Anyhoo, winning that gorgeous quilt put me in the mood to host another giveaway. I mean I have to do something to pay it forward. So after retreat, watch Blackberry Creek for a fine giveaway. Don't know what it'll be yet, but it'll be fine. I think it will be something I make.

I gotta go now. I have to see how that book turns out. Just a few more pages to go.

Oh boy - that does sound like a very busy day. I think taking just a couple of things to the retreat is a good idea. I always take everything in my sewing room and then I just do one or two things anyway -LOL

Lucky you winning that quilt. I have loved that quilt for months and months. As Nicole had it for a while on her Etsy store. So a big congratulations on your winning!!! Have a great time at the retreat!!!

How LUCKY are you and red is my favorite color.
Sorry I didn't know about the drawing but if
I had all but one number I still wouldn't win.
Oh well maybe I'll make myself one.
