Where would we be without red? It's the color of fire, blood, and stop lights--all necessary elements of modern life. I'm sure ripe tomatoes would not be as tasty if they had to be another color--blue, for instance. And what about watermelons? And Red Delicious apples. And who isn't cheered by the site of a pot full of beautiful red geranumiums or a red rose bush? If it weren't for red, nobody would be able to blush; and we'd never know if the cd player was on or off without the little red light to tell us.
Red is the symbol of many concepts in our culture : energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination, passion, desire, love. Red is the most intense color--so intense, in fact, that it can actually stimulate a faster heartbeat and breathing (at least that's what I've read). Wearing red will make one appear larger (and we sure don't want that).
For sure, red is a necessary color--just not one of my favorites. In fact, I'm a Red Hat Lady dropout. I spent just long enough in our local group to accumulate quite a collection of red hats and to realize that all these women do is dress up in red and purple (a hideous combination) and go out to lunch. A cute idea, I'm sure--just not for me.
Here I am during my brief stint as a Red Hat Lady.
Yeah, I'd rather my reds be tempered with a little white. I love pink and might have remained a Red Hat Lady if they would have let me wear pink.
Well, this is a silly post. I really wanted to use "Rain" as my R word, but I didn't have a photo of rain and the sun is shining today.

Susan, you may not like the color RED, but you sure are beautiful in that picture in your red hat and shawl! I really liked your R post! You are rolling right along and will be at Z before you know it! I'm a bit slower getting going.
