Springy Ding Ding!

Feaefbbfbb11b99bf45994c352bcdc5b

So much on my mind lately, I didn't even realize it was the first day of spring until I signed onto Facebook this morning and saw all the posts. We have a frost warning for tonight, so for some it might not feel like spring, but it's nothing usual for our area of the world. My mama always said that you don't plant anything until after Easter because there can still be freezing temperatures until then.

St. Patrick's Day wasn't very exciting here at The Yellow House. I had planned to make corned beef and cabbage, which I usually do on St. Patty's Day. But the store didn't have any corned beef. So I changed my plans and decided on shepherd's pie, but then found out that Andy and Jesse are both dieting and can eat nothing but meat and cheese. So we had hot dogs. I had mine with a bun; their's were bunless. Then Andy and I watched a movie, and Jesse went to his girlfriend's house. I don't know why they don't just get married. But Jesse has said since he was a little boy that he wasn't ever getting married. I guess he meant it.

I stitched the 11th cat block for Kris's quilt today and cut out the 12th. Twelve blocks and sashing required, so I'm getting closer. I have three quilt started that I want to finish in time for my guild's June 2026 quilt show, so I need to get hopping on them.

Happy Springtime, everyone.

Happy Spring to you!

We didn't do anything special for St. Patrick's day cuz DH started with the flu and felt awful. That has been our week, too, but so far (knock wood) I'm okay.

Well done on your progress of making the cute kitty blocks!!

If I had more energy, I'd have a clear space to cut fabric to make a huge pillowcase for a weighted blanket we got for DS2 whose birthday is in about 3 weeks.

DS1 and his wife lived together for nearly 10 years before getting married, so there is that.

Wishing you well in getting a little stitching done each day so your quilts are ready for the quilt show in plenty of time!

Hugs!

Age Is Just a Number

At least that's what they say. But I'm afraid mine has become a really big number.

I celebrated my latest birthday on Tuesday. It was the day of my book club, and the ladies made it really special for me, with gifts and cards and great food and fun. Below is a photo of the gift my sister Ramey gave me. It's her original creation.

Skip&SophYou might recognize these two: Skipper (left) and Sophie (right)

They're both at the Rainbow Bridge now, waiting for me. Well, I don't expect Sophie spends all her time at the Bridge. I'm sure she's out with Vann most of the time, touring the Heavenly 'Hood on the four-wheeler. But surely she goes back from time to time to see if I've arrived yet. I'm sure Skipper has been busy the last few years digging a Heavenly Hole to--well I don't want to think where that hole might lead to. I miss these guys. This portrait of them is a real treasure. Thanks, Ramey. Thanks a million.

I have got a couple more cat blocks completed in the last few days. I think that makes seven, or maybe eight. I have to make 20 in all, so I still have a way to go. Speaking of which, I'm off to the sewing room.

Another Happy Birthday from me!
The picture Ramey painted is glorious, magnificent, and just wonderful for you!
How nice for you to have a party at the meeting! What sweet friends you have.
Applause on the additional 2 cat blocks. A bit of a stitch every day gets these projects finished!

Hugs!

Slow Days

I don't get much done these days. I've already explained, so I won't go into it all again. But I have managed to get five cat blocks created for Kris's quilt. And I have most of the 2 1/2" squares cut out for the other quilt I'm working on.

I've watched a lot of movies--with my daughter Andy since she's out of work thanks to you-know-who's massive job eliminations. I've also read a few books, so I'll try to get that list up in a day or two.

Nothing else to add except Happy and Peaceful Lenten Season to all.

5catscropped - 1Five cat blocks.

QGR-00330This quilt is Made entirely of 2 1/2 inch squares. It's what I will use the squares I've been cutting to make.

I'm right there with you with not accomplishing much past loading/unloading the dishwasher and doing laundry. I kind of tidy, but the vacuum seems beyond me just now.
Damn and blast that Andy's unemployed now and a pox on them all. I read that the definition of evil is someone who chooses to act in ways that harm others. Guess who and who and who ... ad infinitum. Impeach them all now and prosecute those who have failed to uphold their oaths of office.
So far, the daffodils still bloom.

Hugs!
