Time Flies

Blessed&Thank
Would somebody like to tell me where this year went? The holidays are upon us and I'm not sure I've recovered yet from last year's holidays.

I have spent a little time in the sewing room since posting. I'm working on a wonderful Christmas gift for my sister, but I probably won't show it until after Christmas. Although she rarely, if ever, visits my blog, I don't want to take a chance of spoiling the surprise if she did drop in.

Church - 1
This has been a very busy week for me. On Saturday, daughter Andy came over and we had bowls of chili Mac while watching the Bama Kentucky game. Bama won and has clinched the SEC West spot in the playoffs. ROLL TIDE!

On Sunday, my church held its annual Thanksgiving luncheon after service. As usual, the food was delicious (turkey, dressing, and forty-'leven sides and desserts). That's the lunch group in the photo above. As you can see, we are a small congregation, but a lively one. Sister Ramey and I appear third and fourth from the right in the photo.

Strawcake
Tuesday was my book club's monthly meeting. (More great food!) We met, as we usually do, at our church, to discusss The Rose Code by Kate Quinn. Everyone in book club loved it--except me. I wasn't too very taken with it. (More in the Books Read sidebar at left.) Above is a photo of the yummy strawberry cake that was our dessert.

For the rest of the week, I've been trying to catch up on laundry. I don't know how Jesse and I can pile up so much laundry in so short a time. Jesse helps out with laundry, but still it's a job. The last load is in the dryer now. I only have to get it out, fold it, and put it away--the worst part of the job.

I hope everyone is looking forward to a happy and thankful Thanksgiving. I'll be cooking just for me, Jesse, and daughter Andy this year. Chicken and Dressing is a must. I'll add gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, and some kind of dessert. And maybe some kind of salad. Andy has said she will help with the cooking, but the dressing will be all my doing.

What a nice group of people attend your church! Glad to hear you're a lively group, too.

There will be only 3 of us for Thanksgiving, too, so this year instead of a whole turkey, it will be turkey breast cooked a new way from a You Tube method. The green beans, corn pudding, sweet potato casserole, and pumpkin pie are staples. DS2 will have a baked potato instead of sweet potatoes.

As for where the year went, ;long ago my Dad said that has he got older, years zoomed by (not in the internet group meeting sense)so I suppose we're both at the 'zoom' stage!

Hugs!
