Yesterday I was sewing along at a good clip, looking forward to putting the blocks together and adding the roof, when I hit a snag (as my good old daddy would say). I found that the fabric I had chosen for the sky was just shy of being enough. I figured seven ways from sundown how I could stretch it to fit, but no go. There just wasn't enough.
So I went through my stash of blues and nearly blues to see if I could find a substitute. No luck. I have plenty of blues, but nothing else that looks like a snowy sky. And it has to be a snowy sky because all the windows in the house show that it's snowing outside. Enlarge the photo and you might can see the snow through the windows.
I even thought of adding a snowy forest behind the house so that I wouldn't need as much snowy sky fabric. No go there either. I didn't have any snowy forest fabric, or even any forest fabric to which I could maybe add snow.
With a room full of fabric, I was stuck without any that would work to finish "Rosie's Dollhouse." So I ordered some snowy sky fabric and something that will maybe work for the ground in front of the house. I hope. Unfortunately, although I scanned websites for a couple of hours, there is none like I already have. So I had to order enough to start over with the sky border.
It's a sunny day here at the Yellow House. We haven't had rain for close to a week. I'm ready for some.

Hoe frustrating and am sorry this happened. Isn't it amazing how a huge stash is too often no help at all? Hope the fabric you ordered is perfect and that the seam ripping won't take too long. Put on some music or an audio book and snip away!
We've had 8 days with some quantity of rain falling, from sprinkles to downpours to hail.
DH helped me put another leaf in the dining room table so I can attempt to machine quilt a 51" square baby quilt. Have it machine quilted by a long arm quilter would have cost over $500 and that's not happening. As my Grandma Hall used to say, 'Do pray!"
Hugs!

Love the house quilt! It’s so detailed, know it was a lot of work.
