A Long-Haired Hippie Person

I don't think my hair has been this long since back in the day when this song was popular ("Signs" by Five Man Electric Band, 1971), or maybe even before that. It has been at least a year and a half since I've had a haircut.

Below is me in 1969, so I know it was long then. But never since, as I recall.

I couldn't wait to be fully vaccinated so I could visit Alana and get the stuff cut off. But now that I am fully vaccinated, I've lost all interest in getting a haircut. If I get it cut short again, I'll have return for a recut every four or five weeks to keep it that was. For some reason, and it has always been true, I just hate to go for a haircut. I don't know exactly why. Maybe because it takes time away from doing stuff I want to do.

But anyway, for now, i'm allowing the mane to grow. I can do a ponytail now, so when the really hot weather arrives (and I don't think it's far off) I can get it off my neck.

Almost time for Zoom Church. I'm going to have my bowl of mini-wheats so I don't go into a low blood sugar attack before church is over.

I also hate going for a haircut, they always talk about it being like a spa event, and I say no.
I have what I call Covid hairstyle, it got cut once in October and is now growing out white because I also stopped coloring it.

Your hair looks fine to me and I love the headband to keep it out of your eyes. All the better to see, doncha know?!

I'm with you and Denise in never enjoying getting my hair cut. It's naturally curly, so it was always kind of a toss up about how it would look and often I'd wet it and comb it out when I got home.

I'll have to send you a photo of me in 1970. :)

Your hair looks wonderful as it is. I haven't had a haircut in more than a year too, and eventually I will get it cut, but I am not ready either.

Book Talk

To celebrate getting the border sewn on to my millefiori quilt, I decided to read a book--all the way through without stopping to sew anything. And I picked just the right one: Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano. If I had wanted to put it aside to sew, I don’t think I could have. This is the best book I’ve read for at least a year. It’s one of those stories that almost reads itself. You don’t feel like you reading but just enjoying an enthralling story. The pages fly by, and you’ve finished the book way before you’re ready to leave those wonderful but broken characters. The main character, Eddie (Edward) Adler, at the age of 12, survives an airliner crash. The crash claims 191 lives, including his parents and older brother. For the next six years, Edward struggles to carve out a place for himself in a world without his family. The story is heartbreaking and at the same time uplifting.  If you’re looking for a good book to read to usher in Autumn, I recommend this one highly...

Catching Up

This is my new granddog Ozzy. Daughter Andy recently adopted him. He initially showed up at Jesse's girlfriend's house, and after trying unsuccessfully to find his owner, she made him at home. But having one dog, two children, three cats, and a full-time job already, Ozzy (his name was Chip at the time) became too much for her. So Andy took him in. At first she was sure she had made a mistake. Not having ever owned a dog that she was responsible for (we had dogs from time to time when she was a child), she was sure she had bitten off more than she could chew. But things are settled down, and Andy and Ozzy have bonded. They visit me frequently, usually on Saturday to watch the Bama game--or in the case of last Saturday, to watch movies as there was no Bama game. Ozzie is a very good dog and appears to be well cared for. He had not been snipped, but he has been now. And the vet gave him a clean bill of health.
