I started my week out with a busy Monday. I attended my quilt guild’s monthly meeting, followed by lunch at my favorite Chinese restaurant, Mr. Wang’s. My guild meets in Homewood, a suburb of Birmingham, and it’s a bit of a drive from my house in Leeds, about 20 miles. So when I’m on that side of town, I always try to include a stop at Mr. Wang’s if it’s anywhere near lunch time. And quilt guild meetings let out just in time for lunch.
Our guest speaker this month was the nationally known amazing quilter Karen Kay Buckley. She gave an awesome program, highlighted by lots of her beautiful quilts. I took photos, but they turned out horrifically. Instead of taking my Nikon, I relied on my cell phone, which was a big mistake. I know I can’t take a decent picture with the thing. I don’t know why I keep trying. Anyway, I perused the internet and found photos of some of the quilts she brought. See below.
As amazing as all Karen’s quilts are, and as much as I loved them, this was actually my favorite thing that she brought--her beautiful and sweet doggie Eve. I tried to talk Karen into giving Eve to me, but the deal didn’t go through.

Karen did, however, gladly sell me a pair of her legendary scissors. I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet, but I’m looking forward to the experience. I’ve heard about them for a long time.

Tomorrow I’ll post photos of quilt guild members’ show-and-tell from the October meeting.
