My Lilies

Lily2

In spite of the fact that my back hasn’t let me do any gardening or yard work in a couple of years, my lilies that I planted six or seven years ago seem to be thriving. They’re surrounded by monkey grass that needs pulling, and they never get fertilizer and only what watering the rains bring. My yard man is reluctant to do much in my yard except cut the grass and prune a few shrubs when I nag him into it. So any flowers that are left blooming, like these lilies, get sole credit for their survival.

This has been a good day--not a whole lot of pain and fatigue. My sister Ramey and I went to a special Pentecost service at our church this morning. Afterwards, we went to Cracker Barrel for some comforting comfort food. I spent the afternoon finishing up a mystery thriller I’ve been reading, The Darkest Secret by Alex Marwood. I just finished it a few minutes ago and realized I haven’t updated my reading list (left sidebar) in a while. I think it’s missing two or three books. I’ll get to that tomorrow. I think my eyes are done in for tonight. I can barely see the text on the screen as I type this. I have what my ophthalmologist says is dry eye syndrome, for which I use Restasis drops. But even so, by nighttime, my vision is usually too blurry for reading, writing, or any kind of close work.

So I’ll just turn on the tv an see if I can find anything with sound that I don’t have to see too clearly. Night-night, friends.

Oh, how I sympathize with you. Because of arthritis and fibro, I can no longer garden or do so many other things. I also have dry eye, which is maddening! We are lucky to have so many things we still enjoy and the determination to keep our spirits up. A normal day is a great day!

Lovely lilies!!! Don't you love flowers that reseed themselves or grow every year because they are perennials?!

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead and have spoons aplenty to let you do all you want to do.

Hugs!
