The Year of the Dog
I’m a little calmer now--although I did go through another technological nightmare trying to pay my property tax. Online site didn’t work. No human to answer the telephone at the court house. So I mailed it. Serves me right for waiting till the last minute. I hope the check arrived at the tax collector’s office in time. Just another day in modern America, where everything is designed for efficiency, and nothing is efficient.
My cold is better, although I still have a tickle throat and some nagging congestion and cough. But I think it’s on its way out.
As is much of the rest of the country, Alabama is suffering through a very cold snap. I would like to just stay in and snuggle, but I have to go out to pick up a few things for dinner tomorrow. Andy, Jesse, and I will be sitting down to a traditional Alabama New Year’s Day dinner of blackened peas, turnip greens, ham, and cornbread.
Blessing to all of you for a peaceful and happy 2018. Skipper says he’s going to celebrate the whole year long. It’s the Year of the Dog, you know.
