A Birthday Bash

Ramey and grandson Reed

Yesterday was my youngest sister Ramey's birthday, and we did it up royally. First, after a bit of confusion about which Italian restaurant would have the pleasure of our company, we ended up at Cracker Barrel (don't ask) where we had a fine lunch and talkathon. It was me and Ramey and her two daughters (Buffy and India) and her grandson Reed. Everyone else was either at work or ill.

Later in the afternoon, we gathered back at Ramey's house for cake, ice cream, gift opening, and more talk.

Throughout this fun day, half of my heart was set on my friend Nicole Reed and her family's grief. Nicole lost her younger sister Trish to cancer on Sunday. This close creative family has lived through a year of loss, first Trish's daughter to cancer and now Trish herself. It's hard to imagine how they can bear it all. Many of you are familiar with Nicole from her quilting blog Sisters Choice Quilts. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort.

Happy Birthday to Ramey! What flavor is that yummy looking cake? It looks and sounds as if Ramey got an excellent start on this next year.

I have Nicole and her family in my thoughts, heart, and prayers, too.

Hugs!
