Snowman Backing

Snow3

I didn't have enough of any one fabric suitable to make a backing for "Slumber Party." But I did have several smaller pieces that would work. So I chose four of them and stitched them together to make a pieced backing. Here it is.

Now2

Now it's time to deliver this one to Lena for quilting.

I guess it's also time to get back to the boring French Snowballs quilt. No, it's not boring to look at; in fact, I really like the way it looks. But for some reason, it's bores me silly to work on it. I think because it's all so much alike. Well anyway, soonest begun, soonest done. So today, I begin finishing French Snowballs.

P.S. I also reposted the finished quilt top picture from Monday's post so that the entire thing shows now.

Great pieced backing for Slumber Party! I love using fabrics on hand to make backings for most of my projects. When I started quilting about 20+ years ago, I didn't know better and usually as muslin as my quilt backings. Love the happier look of prints on the backing fabrics now!

Yesterday I took the bordered skeleton panel (aka Mr. Bones) and the baby Single Irish Chain quilt to Sara, my quilter, who is back from her vacation. I hope to get the borders on the SIC double bed size quilt AMIL is making for her SIL so it can go to Sara, too.

I'm also making Halloween placcemats and a table runner as birthday gifts and then will be back to North Wind and Christmas gifts.

Hugs!

I know how you feel about the French snowball quilt. Last year I cut out all the pieces for a blue-and-orange Jacob's ladder quilt, and sewed a few of them together. Now I can't stand to look at the thing.

Love your pieced backing!

Cute backing...it goes together. I always like using my stash(hoards of fabric) to make a patched backing. Feels like I'm making good use of extra fabric. Also, haven't seen you post in a few days and hope you are feeling well. Perhaps you are laying low in the heat and humidity. It's in the high 90's to 100 all week and my brain is turning to mush. Blessings to you and the pups (and kitties). Patty Mc
