But Then, I've Never Liked to Get a Haircut Either

I dropped Sophie off at the Groomer this morning, so now I'm feeling guilty. Even though I took a different route this morning from what we usually take, Miss Sophie was not fooled. Before we got anywhere near the groomer's house, Sophie started whining and fussing and shivering. She was pitching a fit by the time we got there. But as objectionable as she finds these visits, she strutted right into Sharon's grooming studio and into the crate waiting for her. Then she looked up at me as if to say, "I hate you." Even after all these years, I still get teary when I have to leave her at the groomer or the vet, or anywhere.

Then to make matters worse, when we got home, Skipper and Taco acted like I have stolen their best friend and taken her far away, never to be seen again. Taco tried to snuggle with Skipper for comfort, like he does with Sophie. But, as expected, Skipper was having none of it and got hateful with Taco. So he finally got in the chair where he and Sophie sleep at night and snuggled up with their blanket.

Now I'm going to clean out and organize my pantry, a long-overdue job, to take me mind off Furbies who are thoroughly displeased with me.

Awwwwwwwwwww! Bless Sophie's little pea-picking heart as Tennessee Earnie Ford would say! I hope she struts back to the car, proud of her new haircut.

Did you read an on-line story last week about how dogs and humans have similar brain responses to emotions? Perhaps Sophie and the other Furbabies read your feelings of guilt, upset, and sadness and react to that when this situation comes up?

Hope you're feeling good otherwise and make pleasing progress in your pantry. When you get to a stopping place in the pantry clear-up, clear-out, you should reward your good work with something that delights you.

We're heading back into a week of winter weather, so for this area, Phil might have been right back on Groundhog day.

Hugs!

Hugs!
