Back in 2009, I took part in an online weekend challenge hosted by Pat Sloan. She called it her OP Challenge, OP standing for Orange Pile. Quilters were to choose some orange fabrics from their stashes to begin.
The colors of which I have never been able to boast an actual pile are purple and orange. It was true then, and it's still true today. Those are just not my favorite colors. But I was able to find enough orange fabrics in my stash to make a small pile.
I then pulled some pretty pinks and greens to match, and using Pat's instructions made the quilt in the photo above, entitled "Rainbow Sherbet." Some time or other, I don't remember when, I had it quilted. Last week, I decided to finish it to turn in at guild as my cuddle quilt for the year. I found some already made binding and a label that my friend Mary U. had given me last Christmas, stitched them on, and the quilt was done. I turned it in to the Cuddle Quilt Chairman at Monday's guild meeting, and my cuddle quilt obligation for the year is done. But although we're asked for only one donation each guild year, I hope to get at least one more turned in before the year is out.
Pat Sloan has a new UFO Challenge posted on her blog today. It sounds like fun. If you have any unfinished projects for which you need an extra little nudge to get them finished, this might just be the ticket. As you know, I still have quite a backlog of UFOs, so I'll probably join Pat's challenge too. I think this might be a good time to finish the Psalms quilt that I've been wanting to give to my church.

Oooh, love that quilt,I adore orange in a quilt. Nothing brightens a quilt like orange. My next favorite color is lime green.

Woo Hoo! I've been waiting for this quilt to show up again!!! I found your blog through the OP quilt along. That means I have been reading you daily (or at least checking on you daily) since 2009. Time sure flies. And I am glad this OP quilt is going to be cuddled with at last!

Hi Susan-
The OP quilt turned out beautifully and you got to cross off the top item on your ufo list. A win/win for sure. Keep up the great work. It is inspirational.
