On the Back Porch

A1

I have been wanting a small wicker settee for my back porch for a while now to match my wicker theme. Daughter Andy found me one Sunday at our local flea marker, as well as a second end table. The pieces had been marked down, and the price was right, so they came home to the Yellow House.

The new wicker would have made it a little crowded on my small screened porch when added to the pieces I already had. So Andy took one of the rockers and a small stool for her porch.

The problem left for me was the mess I had let the porch become. Everything on it--floor boards, furniture, knick knacks, etc.--was covered with a light coat of dirt. So before I could make it look cozy and inviting, I had to do some cleaning. Which I did.

I remember not long ago when I could clean like crazy all day long. No job was too big. Those days are gone. I paid and am still paying, with pain and stiffness and fatigure, for the work I did yesterday.

But the furbies and I have a great place to sit and enjoy the birds and the breezes--and Skipper barking his loud shrill bark as he makes his way slowly but surely to our neighbors on the other side of the earth.

Just NOW got home from teaching 3 ladies how to crochet. (No charge - but they kindly DID buy me a lovely skim milk cappuccino!) It's blazing hot out & I thought I would cool off a bit before cleaning house so I came back to check blogs! SO glad I did! Your back porch looks like a piece of Heaven! Just lovely & inviting! The wicker settee is absolutely PERFECT and each adornment adds HAPPY little color pops! And NEED I say that the cutie kitty-people, lovely Ms. Sophie & Lil' Skipper are the icing on the cake so to speak! Nicely done, my sweet friend! I'll be right over! LOVE YOU!

I'm just back from the library and it's hot and so very humid here. No fun at all!

Your porch, wicker furniture, and charming accesories look so inviting and the fact that the porch is screened-in is divine! Everyone with two legs or four legs can enjoy bug-free breezes and that makes all the difference in the South during the summer.

I'm sorry you're feeling the effects of the cleaning you did yesterday. Recently I was bewailing my limitations to a friend who seems to have the energy of the Energizer Bunny. Total bummer! Please color me some delightful shade of green in my envy of her.

Hugs!

Love the new porch furniture Susan. One thing - watch out for kitty paws. Our family history with this furniture is that the cats loved the wicker to sharpen their claws. Once they loosen it up it becomes hard to rewind and fasten down again.

Bring on the lemonade. What a lovely place to spend a summer day.
