I Need a Bigger Bed

The usual bed buddies and I are chilling this afternoon. Miss Bella had rather find her own spot.

The epidural seems to have had some positive effects. My back is feeling much better today. I was able to do the grocery shopping this morning without leaving the store in agony. Jesse carried everything upstairs for me, I put it all away, and then the furbies and I came to the bed to rest. Don't want to overdo on the first day. My back was beginning to tighten up. It has been my experience that pain follows the tightness. It's loosening up some now.

I'll get back to the quilt show pics at least by Monday, maybe tomorrow. We have a potluck after church tomorrow in honor of our new preacher, Rev. Dee Dowdy. I'm bringing peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. I'll probably be in the mood for more lounging time when I get home.

Annies

I appreciate your taking time and energy to update us on how you're feeling. Cheers for the pain relief you've experienced from the epidural and for your wisdom to take it easy and not over-do anything.

The quilt on your bed is lovely and the fur-babies do seem supremely comfortable. Have you had trouble with Taco or Bella kneeding the quilt as a sign of their contentment? When one of our cats did that, one of my quilts lost some fabric and some machine quilting stitches. Grrrrrr!

I have used up all of my spoons today working to clean up this sewing room part five. I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I only hope it's not from an oncoming train! It behooves me to get back to sewing because something has got to leave this room!

Hugs!

I'm so glad and pleased for you that the epidureal has helped. My husband suffers from chronic lower back pain (which we think is due to Agent Orange from the Viet Nam era) and he has tried everything, MRI, ct sacn, various meds and at this point nothing sems to help. I can't begin to tell yo9u how thrilled I am for you that your pain has been relieved. Hope you have a great day...

I'm so glad that you're getting some relief from the pain. Yaaay on the new burgundy glasses too, my new ones are plum. I love the quilt on your bed too, I'm partial to baskets. Hope your day is a good one.

"All God's Creatures"

1010166_147183338805331_1569540163_nI have to say that Marian Deslattes's "All God's Creatures" is one of my Quiltfest favorites. One reason is because I love animals and their sweet faces. But the other reason, maybe the biggest reason, is Marian's beautiful applique. As you can see, the judges liked it too, as evidenced by that bright award ribbon. Congrats, Marian, and thanks for sharing all your beautiful quilts with us.

We're about to leave now to go for my epidural. I'm a little nervous, but hopeful too. More quilt photos to come.

Wishing you relief! The 'creatures' quilt is absolutely fabulous!!

What an utterly delightful quilt Marian made! I love her choices for fabrics for the creatures - especially the gingham skunk!! The flowers are lovely, too. Applause!!

My thoughts are with you and I hope you feel instant relief that lasts forever (might as well wish big!). Be sure to drink fluids and follow all of the discharge instructions you were given. Some folks get a headache following this procedure, but if you do as you're told, the chances are good you can avoid that.

Big hugs!

Bouquets to your quilting group and their beautiful quilts, a delight to view. With fashionable glasses and an epidural to tone down the back issues, your future looks bright. I am wishing it is so and hope you will find comfort.

New Glasses and More Quilt Show

Glassescrop
I got tired of old lady wire frames, so this time I chose a pair of glasses that, if they were turquoise or red, would be right at home on the face of Penelope Garcia, the genius and hip BAU computer hacker on "Criminal Minds.". I thought about both red and the turquoise, but in the end, I settled for a more conservative dark burgundy. Next time, I'm going full Baby Girl.

Tomorrow afternoon, I go for my epidural pain block. I've got really high hopes for the success of this procedure. Please join me in hoping high. A bit of pain relief would be nothing but welcome.

I got hardly any sleep last night. The pain and wiggling animals made for a situation very non-conducive to snoozing. (I know I should ban the animals from my bedroom at night, so don't tell me. I just don't have the heart to do it.) I finally dozed off sometime way in the night. Then, just before dawn, I as awakened by a super loud thunderstorm. Nothing severe, just a good old summer thunderstorm, which I love.

And now, for your viewing, I present the next pictorial episode of Quiltfest 2013. And there are more to come in the days ahead. At least two or three more posts, maybe more.

Susan, your new glasses look like you're up with the times! Very nice. My husband just got new darker frames, too. I'm still in my old lady wire rims, but I have an appt this summer. Not sure I can make the switch, but I'll see what's available.

Hope the pain block does its job!

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! What an amazing assortment of quilts! I'm so much enjoying the show. Thx for sharing all the photos. Good luck with your epidural too!

LOVE the glasses!!! You put me to shame! Mine are SO old school. LOL! But, then again, I guess THAT applies to the whole of me! OLD SCHOOL & for that matter, just plain OLD! I've been sighing over all the quilts throughout the week! They amaze & delight me! And quilts, like any other art form, are so diverse. They range from story telling to making a statement to just plain GORGEOUS.

I have red glasses! Thanks for sharing the quilts! I have dogs too. If I was an American Indian, my Indian name would be "Woman Who Sleeps With Dogs". I have one that is deathly afraid of storms and we had one last night so I was up too. Thanks again!

Your new glasses are jazzy and hip! My oldish glasses that I still wear are purple wire frames.

This afternoon you'll certainly be in my prayers. I share your high hopes for the longterm success of this procedure. Hope Jesse or Andy will stay with you tonight as there may be some restrictions on what you can do.

Love the quilts, the dazzling colors, and amazing creativity that abounds in your guild. How could we have not yet seen the best?? The quilts you've shown us are glorious.

Hugs!

More good stuff. Glad you got the new frames. I'd have like to have bright colors with my recent change, but they didn't have any that were for sunglasses. Bummer. Anyway, you look smashing, my dear, simply smashing.

What is the pattern of the little girls a block for each month of the year that is in red and white? It is delightful. Love the glasses.
